  • Hello, can you recommended soma smart shades?

    • Hmmm, difficult to comment as I don’t have them, but it does seem a little pricey, as you need the bridge device, which comes to $249 for just one set of blinds. If you’re in no hurry, it may be a good idea to wait to see what Ikea have planned, as they are bringing out their own smart shades system, although when that is, I don’t know.

  • Agree, Ikea maybe a good solution, my home setup is a mix of devices include smartthings via homebridge , I heard you can add code to hombridge and you don need soma to connect at all to work with HK.
Anyway still pricey, thanks for the reply

    • I did read somewhere that the soma bridge is just an enclosed raspberry Pi with a HomeBridge plugin for the blinds to work with HomeKit.

  • Hi do you know if this works with vertical blinds? I don’t have an endless beaded chain, but am trying to see if I can take my track apart and swap in an endless chain for the Soma. Also, would you recommend these? There’s not many reviews on this out there, so I am a little hesitant to buy it.

    • I don’t have the Soma Blinds so I can’t honestly recommend or not recommend it, but as you need the bridge device (essentially a Raspberry Pi with custom HomeBridge software I’m told) its a bit pricy at $249, for just one set of blinds. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work with vertical blinds though, as you just teach the motor where the limits of the blinds are in terms of how far they go before stopping. Maybe wait and see what Ikea have to offer.
