UPDATE: Ikea have announced that the release date for the blinds has been delayed until the summer of 2019.
Ikea is set to launch the smart blinds named KADRILJ and FYRTUR with support for HomeKit and the TRÅDFRI gateway that already controls the company’s smart bulbs. This is not Ikea’s first step into smart home as they have previously launched the smart bulbs and the Smart plug, but the later has been a rocky launch for them as they had to pull the HomeKit support. The two different models in IKEA’s smart blind range include the * FYRTUR * The FYRTUR is designed as a blackout blind which is powered by a rechargeable battery with HomeKit support * KADRILJ * The KADRILJ is more of a traditional blind that lets light through with a rechargeable battery and HomeKit support. IKEA are linking the Smart blinds with its existing TRÅDFRI lighting gateway. That means the new smart blinds can be controlled using Alexa, HomeKit or the Google Assistant.
