Kaiterra Release New Laser Egg Model With CO2 Sensor

Kaiterra, the company behind the original Laser Egg, Laser Egg 2, and the Laser Egg 2+, have today released a new model that contains all the sensors of the Laser Egg 2, but with the addition of a sensor to monitor levels of CO2 (carbon dioxide) in your home.

As with the first HomeKit compatible device introduced – the Laser Egg 2 – the new +CO2 model can measure PM2.5, temperature and humidity, but also measures concentrations of CO2 in your home. CO2 is the gas that we exhale naturally as we breathe, but in confined spaces, this can have an adverse effect on your short term health, including a reduced ability to concentrate, headaches, and a general feeling of lethargy and drowsiness.

The other models in the Kaiterra lineup include the Laser Egg 2, which we (briefly) reviewed for the launch of our site. The Laser Egg 2+, which in addition to PM2.5, Temperature and Humidity, also measures VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), and the original Laser Egg, which didn’t support HomeKit.

The Laser Egg 2+CO2 goes on sale today via Kaiterra’s own site, with links to 3rd party sellers for most parts of the world.

  • Can you confirm that this new model doesn’t support sensing for VOC? Volatile organic compounds? The article doesn’t mention it but the product name implies it?

    • Hi, I’ve checked their website and downloaded a spec sheet, and di can confirm that this device does not have a sensor for VOCs. Only the Laser Egg + Chemical (formerly Laser Egg 2+) contains a VOC sensor.
