Apple TV 4K 2021 With Thread – First Impressions
Brad Lloyd: The Apple TV 4K 2021 with Thread is finally here! Find out my first impressions! I just received my new Apple TV 4K in the mail on May 21, 2021 along with thousands of others waiting patiently at their front door for their delivery to arrive. I am so excited to add this to my Smart Home built with Apple Homekit!
The New Apple TV 4K boasts an A12 Bionic chip that provides a significant boost in how graphics perform, video quality and audio processing. The most exciting of changes is the SIRI REMOTE with a significant refresh and new design making it easier to navigate by merging the trackpad with the precise control of it’s all-new touch-enabled clickpad that lets you click titles, swipe through playlists and use a circular gesture on the outer ring to easily fast-forward or rewind. You can still use your voice with the newly located side Siri button.
Apple TV 4K is just another way that I’ve gone deeper into the abyss of the Apple ecosystem and I don’t think I’ll ever resurface. I love the whole immersive user experience between Apple hardware, software, and services. I am excited to dig deeper and test out the Apple TV while watching Blue Jays baseball, enjoying a family movie on Sunday Night from Disney+ and watching more episodes of one of our favourite shows from Canada, Schitt’s Creek.
It’s not all great, there are some pretty huge misses in this 2nd Gen Apple TV 4K. I’m happy to see Thread but where in the world is the U1 chip!?! The remote is destined to live somewhere between the cushions of my couch!
Please let me know what you think of the new Apple TV 4K including if you upgraded or perhaps decided to try out just the new remote.
