Smartmi Unveil Standing Fan for HomeKit
with the very recent announcement that the company are releasing the new air purifier E1, Smartmi has now unveiled yet another new device, this time the new Smartmi Air Circulator Fan which has just surfaced on their website.
This device once again focuses on some special features; The fan head not only moves vertically but also automatically horizontally, providing all-round air circulation. Or as Smartmi refers to it, “AI-based dynamic breeze”.
In addition, thanks to an integrated rechargeable battery, the WiFi-based fan can be in use wirelessly for up to 24 hours, although at maximum level, it’ll last for around two hours. The magnetic charging pad conveniently reconnects the fan to power.
The fan’s features can be controlled via the 2.4 GHz wireless remote control, as well as via Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa and Google Home. Of particular interest to HomeKit users, although the new Smartmi recirculating fan isn’t the first standing fan to work with the Apple ecosystem (that honour goes to the Airmate SA35195R Smart Fan), it will be the only one available, since the aforementioned Airmate was discontinued a long time ago.

Since Smartmi only marks many devices as “Coming soon” on its own website without further information about availability, we’re hoping to see this become available in time for purchase before summer 2023. According to the early information, the price should be around EU€250 or US$250.

Thanks for the Link, it does indeed seem to be the same model. The only thing I would caution over is that it’s also available in China, but that model does not come with HomeKit compatibility. The model in the link states HomeKit compatibility, but I tend to be wary of stores that post information when there’s no way to confirm if it’s actually the Chinese, non-HomeKit version they’re selling, and they’ve just cut and pasted the info from Smartmi’s website.
I’m very interested in this as I’ve been close to getting the Xiaomi equivalents and using Homebridge for this purpose, but decided to hold out for a HomeKit alternative. I originally hoped for Smartmi’s current standing fans (The Fan 3 in particular) they’re already selling now to eventually be updated for HomeKit, but this isn’t such a bad alternative. I find my current solution (dumb fan + smart plug) to be limited, as I always lamented not being able to change the fan speed via automation.
Hopefully it comes out soon. It’s still nice knowing a HomeKit standing fan will finally be available for us to actually purchase at some point.

Yesterday my fan was delivered within a day after ordering by a dutch shop (https://www.techpunt.nl/en/xiaomi-smartmi-air-circulator-fan.html).
I just unpacked it and although I haven’t used it yet since it’s still charging I can confirm it is the international version with HomeKit!
That’s good news. I’d love to try one myself.

I was able to add the Fan by selecting the Smartmi Air Purifier P2 and then it was found and added as Smartm Air Circulator Fan (no thats not a typo). Seems beta since not all buttons have a graphic yet but all seems functioning.
I was able to update the firmware too from 1.2.8 to 1.3.3
HomeKit
Adding to homekit went smoothly
Support in HomeKit is for now very minimal; It will give a buton and a slider. Button to turn off child lock. Slider to set the speed from 0 to 100%. I have not seen a way to do horizontal or vertical oscillation.
If you have HomeKit apps like Eve for HomeKit, Controller for HomeKit etc. I wonder if the horizontal or vertical controls appear in there. Thanks for the info.
I tried both eve and controller but they don’t give any options for controlling something different the fan speed and child lock for now.
Is there an option to control anything beyond speed, power, and child lock in the Smartmi app?
Yes in the smartmi link app you can control a lot more;
Mode: natural, standard & temp sensing
I also think AI modes but the buttons have no labels.
Vertical & horizontal movement & oscillation range vertical and horizontal.
Power off timer, indicator light & prompt tone.
