Remootio Unveil HomeKit Compatible Garage and Gate Opener

Europe-based company Remootio has released its first Homekit-compatible garage and gate opener, the Remootio 3 a smart remote controller that comes with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, providing end-to-end encryption for when you want to connect to it remotely. This isn’t exactly a new device, but HomeKit compatibility is a more recent addition to the product itself. With the Remootio 3, you can easily control and monitor your gates and garage doors using your iPhone. The setup process involves the use of the provided cables that come with Remootio 3 to connect it to your gate or garage door. Once connected, you can use your iPhone, Apple Watch, iPadSiri or other smart voice assistants, like Alexa or Google, to control and monitor your gate or garage door with ease. It’s also compatible with Samsung SmartThings. the device comes with one of four different power supplies, for the UK (Type G), AU/CN (Type I), Europe (Type C), or North America (Tyap A).

Whilst it’s compatible with Apple Home and HomeKit, the company’s own app also allows you to share digital ‘access keys’ to allow guests or visitors to access control of the gate or garage door in question. This works in much the same way as guest access for smart home locks, so you can set limits on when someone can control the unit.

The company also state that alongside WiFi control, your gate/garage door can open based on your location using geofencing (GPS) or with iBeacon (Bluetooth). Additionally, whilst the Remootio 3 is officially HomeKit compatible, you can also use Siri Shortcuts to control it, with the use of a widget for even faster access.

Remootio uses 256-bit authenticated end-to-end encryption between your iPhone and the device, regardless of whether you’re using Bluetooth or WiFi. This encryption ensures that any data transmitted between the two devices is secured and cannot be intercepted by unauthorized parties.

By storing the encryption keys on both the Remootio device and your iPhone, Remootio eliminates the need for storing keys in the cloud, which can be vulnerable to cyberattacks. This approach also ensures that the keys are only accessible by the authorized user and not by anyone else. Overall, Remootio’s use of end-to-end encryption and local key storage is a strong security measure that helps protect users’ privacy and data.

You can purchase the Remootio 3 via their website or simply find out more information.
