Tuo Smart Home Company Rebrands to Arre

It was a bit over a year ago that a new smart brand from the US launched called Tuo. The company started cautiously, with a smart button, followed by a contact sensor, and more recently an air quality sensor. All of these products offered Matter over Thread out of the box, which is brave of a startup, considering the costs involved.

Now the company has taken the bold step of rebranding the company name (and logo) to ‘Arre’. How this is pronounced depends on what language it might have been derived from (I’m guessing Spanish), but along with the new name also comes a new logo. This however doesn’t do away with existing Tuo products, so when you order them they’ll be the same, just with new packaging.

That being said, Tuo did have plans to introduce a new deadbolt smart lock with Matter over Thread, and Apple HomeKey, which was originally due to ship last autumn. That planned date has now come and gone of course, and with it the original lock design.

A new lock with much the same design features is now being slated for release quite soon apparently, with the main changes being the area around the keyhole, and of course the new logotype at the top. The lock will come in three finishes, although what these are going to be called is not known yet. Arre also plan on releasing an updated smart button, and a smaller contact sensor, all with Matter over Thread support.

There are also plans for an Arre app, which from the images looks similar in style to Apple Home, and could be a foretaste of Arre becoming a Matter platform in its own right – assuming they’re in a position to launch their own Matter Controller of course, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves! In the meantime, you can visit the updated company website, arrehome.com.
