Aqara Introduces The U200 Lite Smart Lock, w/Matter over Thread
As we alluded to in a post regarding another Aqara product (the Aqara Camera G100), the company has now announced the release of the Smart Lock U200 Lite, a more affordable variant of its existing retrofit lock (video HERE, Review HERE), aimed at European users looking for keyless entry without major installation requirements. The U200 Lite is designed for DIY installation and is compatible with most Euro-profile mortise locks, supporting both EU and select Scandinavian profile cylinders with Emergency Function.
The lock supports Matter over Thread, allowing it to integrate with major smart home ecosystems such as Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Home Assistant, and SmartThings without relying on an Aqara hub. This broad compatibility enables it to work alongside other smart home devices, such as video doorbells and motion sensors, to support wider home security automations.
The U200 Lite provides multiple entry methods, including app-based unlocking via the Aqara app or other Matter-enabled platforms, voice control using Siri and Alexa, and NFC unlocking (no Apple HomeKey on this occasion), using a supplied sticker card, which can be mounted near the door. Remote access features such as unlocking, real-time notifications, and activity logs are available without requiring a subscription.
The device includes a built-in gyroscope that detects whether the door is properly closed and emits a sound if not. It also locks automatically when shut, removing the need for an external contact sensor.
