Ulatraloq Bolt Smart Lock with HomeKey Now Available
ULltraloq has released its first lock compatible with Apple HomeKey: the Bolt NFC, after unveiling it at this year’s CES in Las Vegas. Designed for Apple Home, the Bolt NFC lock allows secure, key-free entry using an iPhone or Apple Watch. It supports native Apple HomeKey functionality, enabling users to unlock their door by tapping their device, without requiring an app or keypad.
Key Features:
- Apple HomeKey Support: Unlock using an iPhone or Apple Watch. Also compatible with Siri and the Apple Home app.
- Android NFC and Key Fob Compatibility: Supports unlocking with Android smartphones that have NFC, as well as Ultraloq key fobs.
- Automatic Unlocking: The lock can detect a user’s approach and unlock the door automatically. It will then lock again using Bluetooth Low Energy.
- Remote Access without Hubs: Remote control is available via the Apple Home app or the U-home app. Scheduled access can also be granted without the need for a hub.
- Multi-Platform Support: Compatible with Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, and IFTTT.
- Battery Life: Designed with energy efficiency in mind, with an expected battery life of up to one year (or more).
- Weather Resistance and Certification: IP65 rated for protection against water and dust. Certified to ANSI Grade 2 standards for security and durability.
Unfortunately, the Bolt NFC doesn’t use Matter over Thread, merely Bluetooth or WiFi when used with Apple Home. You can expect between 8~12 months of life from the eight AA batteries required for the lock too. If you opt for lithium batteries, you can even expect up to 18 months between battery changes.
Bolt NFC is available now on the company’s own website, with a recommended retail price is US$199.99.
