Aqara Unveils Edge Hub M300, Aqara Studio Connect
Aqara has announced its first professional-grade solution for smart home integrators and installers: the Aqara Edge Hub M300 and Aqara Studio Connect software. This plug-and-play hardware-software package is designed for single-family homes, small multi-family properties, and light commercial projects.
The Edge Hub M300, used with Aqara Studio Connect, provides native interoperability across devices, systems, and protocols from both consumer and professional markets. It serves as a centralised home management platform for integrating HVAC, lighting, security systems, and more. Aqara Studio Connect is a lightweight version of Aqara Studio and runs exclusively on the M300.
The Edge Hub M300 supports Zigbee, Thread, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and Bluetooth. It consolidates Aqara and other Matter-enabled devices, as well as professional-grade devices using KNX IP, BACnet IP, and Modbus TCP. It can also bridge these devices to external systems, including KNX, Control4, Josh AI, and Nice, along with Matter ecosystems such as Alexa, Apple Home, and Google Home. Curiously, SmartThings isn’t mentioned.
Aqara will demonstrate the Edge Hub M300 and Aqara Studio Connect at CEDIA Expo/CIX 2025 (Booth 729, Hall A-F, Colorado Convention Center) and at IFA 2025 (Booth 155, Hall 1.2, Messe Berlin).
By combining professional systems with Aqara’s product portfolio and more than 50 Matter devices, the Edge Hub M300 allows installers to integrate a wide range of devices, from robot vacuums to appliances and EV chargers, into one secure, locally controlled platform. This is particularly useful for wired installations, as wireless devices can be added for easier control and expansion without altering the existing infrastructure.
The system also supports Matter apps such as Aqara Home, Alexa, Apple Home, and Google Home, and voice assistants including Alexa, Google Assistant/Gemini, and Siri. The hub maintains operation during network outages by running automations locally and offers both local and cloud backups to reduce the risk of data loss. Aqara provides lifecycle support with updates and technical assistance.
Aqara Studio Connect is managed through a web-based interface, so no additional software installation is required. It supports remote access for managing multiple projects and troubleshooting, and includes a flow-based automation editor for building automations in a no-code environment.
The Edge Hub M300 supports up to 500 connected devices and is expected to be available in Q4 2025.
