Kwikset Announces the Halo Select Plus W/ Matter over Thread, HomeKey

Kwikset has today announced two new devices launching this autumn. The new products include the Kwikset FLEX Smart Garage Door Opener, and the Halo Select Plus, although of these, only the Halo Select Plus is Apple Home compatible. However, you will still be able to operate the Garage Door Opener via Apple CarPlay.

HALO SELECT PLUS

Kwikset is also extending its Halo range with the Halo Select Plus, with the Halo Select originally announced and released last October. The Select Plus is the company’s smart lock that supports Apple HomeKey in and Matter. With HomeKey on iPhone or Apple Watch, homeowners can unlock their doors quickly and securely, adding another layer of convenience.

Halo Select Plus builds on the original Halo Select, by adding Apple HomeKey, but also includes remote access via the Kwikset app and built-in Wi-Fi, keyless entry with access codes, and a discreet door status sensor. It also provided an event log and tamper alerts with real-time notifications. The new model integrates with Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, and Google Home for voice commands and automations, with optional Matter over Thread connectivity for faster and more reliable communication.

Halo Select Plus comes in Satin Nickel and Matte Black finishes, with installation only requiring a screwdriver.

To give homeowners more design options, Kwikset is also expanding the Halo Select range. A Contemporary style will be sold through Amazon, Lowe’s, and other retailers, while a Soft Modern style will launch exclusively at The Home Depot. These join the existing Transitional style, giving homeowners more ways to match smart security with the look of their homes.

KWIKSET FLEX 800 | 1000B

The Kwikset FLEX Smart Garage Door Opener marks the brand’s first step into the garage access market, and is available in two models. Homeowners can operate their garage doors remotely via the Kwikset app or from their vehicles using Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or Kwikset’s own HomeLink. The Kwikset FLEX 800 has a three-quarter horsepower motor with long-lasting LED lighting, while the Kwikset FLEX 1000B adds a one-horsepower motor, brighter lighting, and a built-in battery backup for continued operation during power cuts. Both models provide quiet running, easy installation features, and Kwikset’s patented anti-theft door release to help prevent forced entry.

The Kwikset FLEX Smart Garage Door Opener will launch in selected US markets in mid-October, with nationwide availability in November. Halo Select Plus and the new Halo Select variants will be available through major retailers this autumn.
