ZemiSmart Releases New Matter over WiFi Switches
Earlier in the year, we reported on Zemismart releasing a series of single gang smart switches for the North American market. These switches use Zigbee and therefore rely on a compatible hub to get them exposed to Apple Home. Now the company has released new versions using Matter over WiFi, so no hub required beyond your preferred ecosystem needing a Matter Controller.
This range stands out in that alongside other single gang switches with not only offering one, two, and three buttons, but also four buttons. It’s important to note that these switches do require a neutral wire, and due to the design, these replace not only the switch, but the surrounding wall plate, although they will fit standard North American back boxes.
Each switch variant also offers small LEDs so that the switches can be seen in the dark, especially given that the switches themselves use a dark grey finish, using aluminium alloy material. If you’re worried these will keep you awake in the bedroom, you can actually disable or even reverse the behaviour of the LEDs.
Each button is fitted with what are referred to as ‘micro switches’, designed to respond with just the lightest touch and minimal travel. This means you can press anywhere on each switch’s surface to turn it on or off.
The full range of these switches are available now via ZemiSmart’s own online store, ranging from just US$25~31 plus shipping (and possibly tariffs…), at the time of publishing this article.
