Ikea’s Dirigera Hub Gains Matter 1.3 Support
IKEA has rolled out a new software update for its Dirigera Hub, bringing the firmware to version 2.866.3. This the first release in around three months, following July’s update which introduced Sonos authentication support along with a handful of bug fixes.
Primarily, this update adds Matter 1.3 compatibility, expanding the hub’s reach to include water leak sensors and energy-monitoring smart plugs from other brands. Devices such as the Tapo Mini Smart Wi-Fi Plug with Matter (currently about US$9.99 on Amazon) should now integrate with Ikea’s own smart home ecosystem via the Dirigera and allow energy monitoring.
IKEA has also revisited its own Adaptive Lighting feature following user feedback. In July’s firmware (2.805.6), any manual change to a light’s brightness or colour would completely disable Adaptive Lighting. With version 2.866.3, users can now set Adaptive Lighting as the default state, so it automatically reactivates after adjustments. To be clear however, this is Ikea’s own implementation, not the Adaptive Lighting feature developed by Apple.
The update also includes general performance enhancements and bug fixes, although IKEA hasn’t detailed the specifics.
The new firmware will install automatically, but users can manually check for updates through the IKEA Home Smart app if preferred.
