Aqara’s FP300 Matter over Thread Presence sensor Available Now

Aqara’s latest addition to its range of presence sensors – the FP300 Presence Multi-Sensor – is now here, combining PIR and mmWave sensing technologies to deliver both accurate and responsive motion and presence detection. Designed as one of the first battery-operated presence sensors in Aqara’s lineup, it offers up to two years of battery life. Its compact, wireless design allows for flexible placement throughout the home, with truly wire-free installation.

With built-in Thread and Zigbee support, the FP300 is Matter-enabled, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of smart home platforms including Apple Home of course. In addition to presence detection, it includes independent light, temperature, and humidity sensors, providing a comprehensive set of environmental data.

By combining 60GHz mmWave and PIR technologies, the FP300 detects even subtle movements, including stationary individuals, within a range of up to 6 metres (20 feet). Its advanced AI algorithms reduce false triggers caused by pets, robot vacuums, or environmental factors, improving accuracy over time.

Powered by two CR2450 batteries, the FP300 offers a completely wire-free design for versatile placement. It can be mounted on walls, ceilings, or tight corners using its adjustable joint bracket, which also supports magnetic surfaces. The sensor delivers up to two years of battery life in Thread mode and up to three years in Zigbee mode.

The FP300 is ready to use straight out of the box, featuring self-adaptive sensitivity and AI-driven false-report filtering. For advanced users, additional customisation is available through the Aqara Home app when operating in Zigbee mode. Users can fine-tune detection ranges, disable specific sensors, or set sensor timeouts to tailor performance to their environment.

While the FP300 isn’t designed to replace the FP2 (review HERE, video HERE) – with its option for up to 30 separate detection zones – it does offer greater functionality than the FP1E, thanks to its additional sensors and dual-protocol support for both Thread and Zigbee.
