Xthings to Release First Matter 1.5 Compatible 4K Camera
After the CSA’s announcement of Matter 1.5 just yesterday, one of the first cameras compatible with this new spec is due to launch next month. Xthings has announced the Ulticam IQ V2, the latest version of its AI supported security camera line.
The Ulticam IQ V2 is a 4K UHD Power over Ethernet camera that pairs Google Gemini AI features with Matter 1.5 support and broad compatibility with smart home ecosystems, including ONVIF. It also provides lifetime free rolling 7-day cloud storage and local SD card backup. Suitable for both residential and professional use, the IQ V2 offers improved detection, high quality imaging, and straightforward integration with a wide range of systems.
The Ulticam IQ V2 is the first 4K PoE security camera designed for Matter 1.5, combining edge based object detection, Gemini cloud processing, and open ecosystem compatibility. With the introduction of Matter 1.5, cameras can now integrate more easily across different smart home platforms. The IQ V2 performs object detection ‘on-device’ for quicker alerts, while Gemini provides scene analysis and event summaries in the cloud. Together, these features offer detailed monitoring and broad compatibility without requiring a subscription.
The Ulticam IQ V2 uses Google Gemini on Google Cloud for advanced scene analysis and more context aware alerts. The camera can detect people, vehicles, pets, packages, fire, smoke, and crying sounds, and can classify vehicle types. Users can search recorded history using natural language, for example by asking when a delivery driver arrived or by locating clips that include a particular vehicle. The system can search across all cameras on a property at once. It can also combine related clips into a single incident summary and provide daily activity overviews showing movement by zone and time. Risk analysis tools help prioritise events and reduce false alarms. Future updates will add behavioural and vehicle attribute analysis.
The Ulticam IQ V2 brings together PoE networking, Wi Fi connectivity, on device AI processing, and Gemini cloud intelligence, along with support for open standards. With Matter 1.5 and ONVIF Profile T, it fits both simple smart home arrangements and more complex security networks without tying the user to one ecosystem.

The Ulticam IQ V2 includes lifetime free rolling 7-day cloud storage, along with local storage for redundancy and immediate access on the home network. Footage is protected with end to end encryption. Note that the IQ V2 no longer includes built in eMMC storage. All Gemini enabled Ulticam models use the same cloud AI features, while the IQ V2 adds Matter 1.5 readiness and expanded on device detection.
The Ulticam IQ V2 will be available at the end of December 2025 from ulticam.com and Amazon, starting at US$199.
