Eve Unveils its First North American Thermostat, with Matter over Thread
Munich-base smart home stalwart Eve has announced a new Eve Thermostat for North America, expanding its Matter-over-Thread range, with a wall-mounted smart thermostat designed to operate entirely without a cloud connection. This has always been the case for Eve devices, and especially so for the Matter standard.
The new thermostat uses Thread for connectivity and supports Matter, allowing it to integrate with compatible smart-home platforms while keeping all control and automation local to the home. Eve says no subscriptions, accounts, or cloud services are required.
Eve Thermostat features a minimalist design with a large front display and touch-sensitive controls for adjusting temperature directly on the device. Users can customise the on-screen interface through the Eve app, including temperature presets, heating and cooling modes, and fan settings. A trim plate is included to help cover uneven wall surfaces during installation.
Control options include direct on-device input, app-based adjustments, schedules, and automations that run locally. Presence-based automations allow the thermostat to change temperature settings automatically when occupants leave or return. An on-screen Eco indicator shows when the selected temperature falls within an energy-efficient range.
Eve says functionality for the thermostat is designed to expand over time through software updates, using Matter to improve interoperability with other smart-home devices.
