New LiFX Matter Products and a Move Towards Thread
LIFX and parent company Feit Electric today presented a new range of smart-lighting products at CES, planned for release across 2026. The announcements centre on expanded physical controls, wider Matter compatibility, and optional Thread networking alongside existing Wi-Fi support.
The new lineup spans mirrors, wall controls, bulbs, and light strips, with an emphasis on allowing lights to be controlled without relying solely on a smartphone app.
SUPERCOLOR MIRROR
Designed for bathrooms and vanity areas, the SuperColor Mirror combines front and rear lighting with built-in smart features. It includes modes such as Make-Up Check and an anti-fog function.
Three configurable buttons on the mirror allow users to:
- Switch between lighting scenes
- Adjust brightness or colour
- Control other Matter-compatible devices
The mirror is intended to provide direct control without requiring access to the LIFX app.
SMART DIMMER
The LIFX Smart Dimmer is a wall-mounted control featuring four customisable buttons and an eight-zone gradient light bar. It supports both smart and non-smart lighting.
Key features include:
- TRIAC dimming for compatible LED, halogen, and incandescent bulbs
- Scene and effect control for LIFX smart lights
- Matter support for controlling other connected devices
Button gestures include single-tap, double-tap, and long-press actions, enabling use beyond lighting, such as triggering routines or controlling other smart-home products.
EVERYDAY BULB (A19)
The Everyday Bulb is positioned as a lower-cost entry point into the LIFX ecosystem, likely in response to releases by Aqara, Govee, and more recently Ikea.
Specifications include:
- 800 lumens output
- Full-colour lighting with tunable whites
- 90+ CRI rating
The bulb is available now, priced at approximately US$10 per bulb, and is sold via Amazon and the LIFX website.
EVERYDAY LIGHTSTRIP
The Everyday Lightstrip is designed for decorative and accent lighting.
Features include:
- 20-foot length, extendable up to 40 feet
- 24 individually addressable colour zones
- A four-button physical controller for scene selection or Matter device control
The lightstrip can be operated without the app once configured.
MATTER AND THREAD SUPPORT
LIFX confirmed continued investment in the Matter smart home standard, so during 2026, the company plans to roll out a Thread upgrade for its current generation of devices.
Users will be able to choose between:
- Wi-Fi for direct connectivity
- Thread for mesh-based, low-latency networking
This was something hinted at with the company’s LiFX Luna, although whether that has come to pass, we’re not sure. However, combined with Matter support, this approach is intended to maintain cross-platform compatibility as smart-home ecosystems evolve.
