Switchbot Unveils an Updated Bot – The Bot Rechargeable
SwitchBot has announced the Bot Rechargeable, a new version of its long-running SwitchBot Bot, with the main change being the move to a built-in rechargeable battery.
The original Bot has long offered a simple way to add smart control to appliances and devices with physical rocker switches or single-action buttons, without requiring rewiring or replacement. The new Bot Rechargeable keeps that same core function, but replaces disposable batteries with a built-in 370mAh lithium battery that charges via USB-C. According to SwitchBot, the battery can last for up to six months on a single charge based on one press per day. The company says this should reduce the need for regular battery changes, while also lowering ongoing maintenance and waste, particularly for households using multiple Bots.
In most other respects, the Bot Rechargeable appears to remain unchanged. It still uses adhesive for tool-free installation, supports both buttons and rocker switches, uses Bluetooth to communicate, and can be controlled via the SwitchBot app. When paired with a SwitchBot hub, it also supports remote access, voice control, and automation. With a Matter-compatible SwitchBot hub, the Bot Rechargeable can also work with platforms including Apple Home, Alexa, and Google Home. That allows it to be used in automations and routines, such as turning appliances on at set times or triggering actions based on sensor activity.
As with the original model, the Bot Rechargeable is aimed at devices that would not normally be considered smart, offering a non-invasive way to automate existing switches and buttons. SwitchBot suggests use cases including heaters, coffee makers, and other appliances that rely on a physical press to operate.
The SwitchBot Bot Rechargeable is available via the official SwitchBot website and the company’s Amazon storefronts, priced at US$33.99, £33.99, €33.99, and CA$49.99.
