Govee unveils Lightwall portable LED display with Matter
Govee has launched the Lightwall, a portable LED lighting display designed for temporary setups both indoors and outdoors, with support for Matter (over WiFi) included from launch.
The Lightwall is built around a 1,536-LED RGBIC array arranged in a 32 x 48 pixel grid. With a quoted pixel pitch of 1.96 inches, the panel is capable of displaying relatively detailed visuals and smooth colour gradients for a product in this category. Animations run at up to 35 frames per second, which should help maintain fluid motion for effects and basic visual scenes.
Unlike fixed wall-mounted panels, the Lightwall uses a freestanding aluminium frame that can be assembled or dismantled in around 10 to 15 minutes, without tools. An IP65 rating for water and dust resistance means it is intended for use in a variety of environments, including gardens, patios, and temporary outdoor setups. A carry case is included for transport.
The device ships with over 200 preset lighting scenes, with additional emphasis on effects suited to outdoor use. Govee also includes its AI Lighting Bot 2.0, which allows users to generate simple animated effects using text prompts. More advanced users can access a layered editing system with up to 30 layers, alongside support for 16 million colours via Govee’s Uni-IC Control.
Music synchronisation is also supported, with 10 built-in audio-reactive modes that adjust lighting in real time based on sound. The Lightwall can also be linked with other Govee products using DreamView and SceneStage, allowing multiple lights to operate in sync.
For smart home integration, the Lightwall connects via the Govee Home app, which provides access to scenes, customisation tools, and scheduling. It also supports Matter over WiFi, in addition to Amazon Alexa and Google Home. As is typical with Matter lighting devices, functionality in Apple Home will depend on the features exposed via the standard, but basic control and automation should be supported.
