Govee Unveils Outdoor Spotlights Lite with Matter support
Govee has introduced the Outdoor Spotlights Lite, a new outdoor lighting product designed for gardens, pathways, walls, and general landscape use. The product is listed in a 4-pack configuration under model H3200, with US pricing set at US$99.99.
According to Govee, the Outdoor Spotlights Lite use RGBWIC lighting, with support for the standard 16 million colours and individual light control, allowing for effects that can flow across the lights or be separated into zones. In addition to colour lighting, the spotlights also offer adjustable warm and cool white lighting, so they can be used for either accent lighting or more practical illumination around the yard.
For smart home users, the key point is that Govee says the lights can be controlled via the Govee Home app or integrated with Matter-enabled smart homes. That should make them of particular interest to Apple users, as Matter support usually means the product can be added to Apple Home for control via the Home app and Siri, assuming You at least have one Apple Home hub acting as a Matter Controller. As is the case with pretty much all Govee products with Matter support, this is limited to Matter over WiFi, so no Thread.
Govee is also pitching the product as suitable for year-round outdoor use. The company states the lights are rated IP67 for water and dust resistance, and can operate in temperatures from -4F to 113F. The product page also includes a safety note stating that installation should be to a covered Class A GFCI receptacle with a weatherproof enclosure.
As for features, Govee says the Outdoor Spotlights Lite come with more than 60 preset scenes, alongside a music sync option for parties and holiday lighting. Installation appears to be relatively straightforward, with the lights designed to be placed into the ground using stakes, with adjustable angles for directing the beams where needed.
At US$25 per light in the 4-pack, the Outdoor Spotlights Lite look like Govee’s attempt to offer a more affordable outdoor spotlight option while still including Matter, which is likely to be the main draw for Apple Home users. If the Matter implementation is solid, these could end up being a notable addition to the still fairly limited selection of outdoor smart spotlights that work with Apple Home.
