Govee Releases Table Lamp with Matter and cordless design
Govee has released the ‘Table Lamp Classic’, a new cordless smart lamp that combines portable lighting with Matter over Wi-Fi support, making it one of the company’s latest products to target broader smart home compatibility beyond its own app. According to Govee’s product listing, the lamp also works with Alexa, Google Assistant, and SmartThings, and Apple Home via Matter.
The lamp uses RGBICWW lighting, allowing it to produce both coloured lighting effects and tuneable white light in a single product. Govee says brightness reaches 500 lumens, with adjustable white light ranging from 2700K ~ 6500K, which should make it suitable for both ambient use and more practical everyday desk lighting.
A key part of the design is its built-in 4800mAh rechargeable battery, which allows the lamp to be moved around the home or used away from a power outlet. Govee positions it as a portable lamp with a more traditional table-lamp look, rather than something overtly styled as a tech product.
On the smart side, Govee lists support for app control, its AI Lighting Bot, and Auto-Run automation features. The lamp also includes 72 dynamic scene modes and a range of music-reactive modes for more decorative use.
One detail worth noting is that Govee’s FAQ says Energy Saving Mode turns on after the lamp is unplugged, disabling Wi-Fi and IoT features. Those functions can be restored by turning Energy Saving Mode off in the app, so users looking to keep Matter or other smart platform connectivity active while running on battery may need to check that setting.
The Govee Table Lamp Classic, model H1741, is listed on Amazon.com at US$79.99.
