Sonoff Unveils NSPanel Pro Gen2 with Matter, dual relays, HA Support

The SONOFF NSPanel Pro Gen2 has been introduced as an updated version of the company’s wall-mounted smart control panel, combining switching, dashboard control, and multi-protocol hub functionality into a single device. Designed for standard 86-type wall boxes, the new model builds on the previous NSPanel Pro with upgraded hardware and expanded ecosystem support, including Matter.

At its core, the NSPanel Pro Gen2 integrates a Matter Bridge and Zigbee hub, allowing it to bring together devices from multiple ecosystems into a single interface. Devices connected via eWeLink, including WiFi and Zigbee accessories, can be exposed to other Matter-compatible platforms through this new panel.

This effectively positions the panel as a bridge between otherwise siloed systems, including integration with Home Assistant, where devices and automations can also be synchronised via Matter. In addition to Matter support, the panel can function as a Zigbee 3.0 hub, with the option to operate either as a Zigbee hub or router/repeater, depending on deployment.

Unlike the earlier model, the Gen2 version includes a dual-channel relay, allowing it to directly control two circuits. This enables it to replace existing wall switches without requiring additional smart relays or rewiring. The relays are rated for up to 10A total resistive load, making the panel suitable for lighting or similar applications.

The NSPanel Pro Gen2 is designed to act as a central control interface, with a 3.95” capacitive touchscreen offering a 480 × 480px resolution. A notable addition is support for F-Droid, an open-source app store, allowing users to install third-party apps directly on the panel. This includes the ability to run the Home Assistant app locally, or access it via a web interface, effectively turning the device into a dedicated smart home dashboard. Users can also assign a third-party app as the default home screen, while the panel continues running its native interface in the background.

Beyond device control, the panel includes a number of system-level features:

  • Centralised temperature control – with support for monitoring and managing heating across multiple rooms
  • Customisable home security modes – including arming states with sensor-triggered alerts
  • Camera integration – including support for SONOFF and RTSP-compatible cameras
  • Customisable UI – with user-defined layouts and wallpapers

These features are designed to position the panel as a whole-home control interface rather than just a smart switch.

The NSPanel Pro Gen2 is powered by a quad-core ARM Cortex-A35 processor, paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, allowing it to run multiple apps smoothly.

Connectivity includes:

  • Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz)
  • Zigbee 3.0
  • Matter support via built-in bridge functionality

The panel also includes a built-in speaker and microphone, enabling additional interaction options such as intercom-style communication. From a Matter perspective, the NSPanel Pro Gen2 acts primarily as a bridge and aggregation point, rather than a simple endpoint device.

By exposing both Zigbee and Wi-Fi devices to Matter platforms, it effectively extends Matter compatibility to devices that would otherwise not support the standard natively. This makes it particularly relevant for users with mixed ecosystems or existing eWeLink setups looking to unify control under Matter.

The NSPanel Pro Gen2 combines several roles into a single wall-mounted device:

  • Matter bridge
  • Zigbee gateway
  • Dual relay wall switch
  • Smart home dashboard with app support

With its ability to surface non-Matter devices into Matter ecosystems, alongside local dashboard functionality via Home Assistant, it represents a more flexible approach to centralised smart home control than typical wall panels, although as this an 86 style device, it’s clearly aimed at European users, not North American ones.

You can preorder the SONOFF NSPanel Pro Gen2 from Sonoff’s own website, priced at around US$117.
