SwitchBot Releases Standing Fan with Built-in Battery, Basic Matter Compatibility

SwitchBot has launched the SwitchBot Standing Circulator Fan an update to their original circulator fan that now offers itself up as a full standing fan, with the option to add it to Matter platforms via a SwitchBot hub. This new model is designed for flexible use around the home due to it being able to function as either a desk fan or a standing fan, with three height settings of 47.3cm, 73.6cm, and 100cm.

The Standing Circulator Fan uses SwitchBot ‘SilenTech’ and a DC brushless motor, with noise levels as low as 22dB in Baby Mode and air speeds of up to 6.1m/s. SwitchBot states that it can circulate bedroom air in as little as three minutes. It also offers 90º automatic left-right oscillation and 100º vertical adjustment, with rated power of 24W.

The fan includes a built-in 2400mAh rechargeable battery, offering up to 28 hours of use (in Baby Mode, the lowest setting). It can also be powered from a portable battery pack via a built-in USB-C port, allowing it to be moved more easily between rooms. A built-in night light offers two brightness levels for use at night, which is another upgrade from the previous model.

For smart home integration, the fan can be connected to Apple Home and Home Assistant when paired with a SwitchBot Matter-enabled hub. It also supports voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Through the SwitchBot app, users can adjust the fan speed from 1 to 100%, as well as set timers. Unfortunately, Apple Home integration is bare bones, with only on and off as an option, and no control over the fan speed.

SwitchBot positions the fan as suitable for year-round use. In summer, it can help circulate cooled air around a room, while in winter it can help move warmer air downwards. It can also be used alongside an air purifier during spring and autumn to help improve indoor air circulation.

The SwitchBot Standing Circulator Fan is available from the Amazon stores in the US, UK, DE, FR, IT, and ES. Pricing is listed at US$129.99 (currently on offer at US$99.99), £99.99, and €99.99. You can also view our video review for the fan by clicking on the image below;
