Eufy’s New Robovac Combines Matter and a Built-in Fragrance Module

Eufy has unveiled the eufy Robot Vacuum HydroJet S2, its latest flagship robot vacuum and mop with Matter support for Apple Home and other compatible platforms. The new model also includes a built-in fragrance system in the vacuum itself, allowing it to leave rooms with a fresh scent during and after cleaning.

With Matter integration, the S2 can be added directly to Apple Home for basic controls, including starting and stopping cleaning tasks, sending the robot back to its dock, and checking its current status. This makes it one of a growing number of premium robot vacuums that can be controlled alongside other Matter-compatible devices in the Home app.

The S2 offers up to 30,000Pa of suction power and uses eufy’s AeroTurbo Deep Cleaning System 2.0, which is designed to maintain strong performance over long periods thanks to a multi-cyclone filtration system. For mopping, the robot uses the HydroJet Mopping System 2.0, featuring a self-cleaning roller mop with 1.5kg of downward pressure and a 29cm cleaning width. A 32-hole water injection system continuously refreshes the roller while the dock uses ozonated water to help keep the mop clean.

One of the more unusual features of the S2 is an integrated aromatherapy module built into the robot itself. eufy says the system can release fragrance while cleaning, helping to leave rooms smelling fresher once the job is complete. The current choice of scents is limited to three – Citrus & Basil, Bamboo & Sage, or Bergamot & Lychee.

The Omni S2 uses CleanMind AI and 3D MatrixEye 2.0 to recognise and avoid more than 200 types of obstacles. Detection is processed locally, with no need to send images to the cloud. The robot can cross thresholds up to 3.5cm, or 4.2cm for double thresholds, while the mop lifts up to 2.8cm when carpets are detected.

The included dock automates a wide range of maintenance tasks, including:

  • Emptying the dust bin
  • Washing and drying the roller mop
  • Refilling clean water
  • Collecting dirty water
  • Generating ozonated water
  • Recharging the robot
  • Dispensing fragrance

The robot includes DuoSpiral anti-tangle brushes and an extending side brush for cleaning along edges and in corners. It can detect more than 40 types of wet and dry messes and automatically adjust cleaning behaviour to suit different floor surfaces. As with most full vac systems these days, there are two options – one where you have to change or empty water manually, and another that plumbs into your water system that takes care of both clean and dirty water automatically.

The eufy Robot Vacuum HydroJet S2 is currently available preorder in Europe, with pricing starting at around €1,599.99.

Lets say you use this once a week and that it holds up for 3 years if you’re lucky. Thats approx €10 per cleaning. Is it worth that?

    • It depends on how useful automated vacuuming is to you. For some, like those with severe mobility issues, it would be worth it.

Another example of its usefulness is for people with pets who shed a lot of hair. In my case I need to vacuum twice a day at certain times of the year due to my dog shedding lots of fur. That immediately brings down the cost per use you mention. Regardless, many will vacuum more than once a week.

My Roborock S6 is still in working order after buying it around 8 years ago, and I used it every other day.
