Govee Adds Full Colour G25 Matter Filament Bulb to Lineup
Govee has once expanded its range of Matter-compatible bulb range with the new Govee E26 Smart Edison Light Bulb G25, a decorative globe-style bulb that combines a classic Edison look, offering 500lm and with support for Apple Home and other major smart home platforms.
The new bulb uses Matter over Wi-Fi, allowing it to be added directly to Apple Home, as well as Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings without relying solely on the Govee app, although you do get more functionality via the aforementioned app. This new bulb follows on from other full colour filament style bulbs from the company, including the ST19 bulbs released back in March.
Designed for exposed fittings such as pendant lights and table lamps, the G25 bulb features a clear glass enclosure and a double-helix COB filament that gives it the appearance of a traditional Edison bulb while offering modern smart lighting features. Despite its vintage styling, the bulb supports both tuneable white and full-colour lighting. Brightness is rated at up to 500 lumens, with adjustable colour temperatures ranging from 2700K to 6500K, and a CRI of over 90 for more accurate colour rendering.
Through the Govee Home app, users can adjust brightness and colours, set schedules and timers, and choose from more than 64 preset scene effects. The bulb also supports music synchronisation for dynamic lighting effects that react to sound. Connectivity is provided via 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and Govee notes that the bulb should not be used with traditional dimmer switches.
