Arylic Announces LP20 Music Streamer, w/ AirPlay 2 and BT 5.4
Arylic has announced the LP20 Music Streamer, a new network audio streamer that expands on the company’s existing LP10 model, whilst retaining support for Apple AirPlay 2 for integration with Apple Home and multiroom audio setups.
Like the LP10 (review HERE, video HERE), the LP20 allows users to utilise AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, and TIDAL Connect support to existing speakers, amplifiers, and hi-fi systems, enabling wireless streaming from Apple devices including iPhone, iPad, and Mac. AirPlay 2 support also allows the LP20 to participate in multiroom playback alongside HomePod speakers and other compatible AirPlay 2 devices within Apple Home.
The LP20 additionally supports Qobuz Connect, DLNA, UPnP, NAS playback, internet radio, local USB playback, and Bluetooth 5.4, whilst also introducing support for dual Bluetooth device connections.
Both the LP10 and LP20 support dual-band WiFi, Ethernet, USB playback, and USB-C PC audio functionality, although the LP20 significantly expands on the connectivity and audio integration options offered by the earlier model.
Unlike the more compact LP10, which is primarily designed as a simple streaming bridge, the LP20 adopts a more desktop hi-fi oriented design, complete with a rotary control knob, RCA connectivity, additional digital outputs, and dedicated subwoofer support.
Arylic has also equipped the LP20 with an ambient lighting system that visually indicates the current operating mode and playback status. Different colours are used to identify active sources and connection states, including white for WiFi/network playback, blue for Bluetooth mode, green for line input and Spotify Connect, yellow for optical input, red for USB playback, and magenta for USB DAC mode. The lighting system can additionally indicate pairing status, standby mode, network connection activity, and volume adjustment levels through various animated lighting effects.
Whilst the LP10 already offered a solid feature set for compact AirPlay 2 and Google Cast streaming, the LP20 introduces a number of substantial upgrades;
- Bluetooth 5.4 replaces Bluetooth 5.0
- Qobuz Connect support is added
- Optical audio input is included
- RCA analogue input replaces the LP10’s 3.5mm input
- Coaxial digital output is added
- Dedicated subwoofer output is included
- 12V trigger output is added for amplifier integration
- Dual Bluetooth receive connections are supported
- USB playback support is expanded beyond the LP10’s 16GB/1000 song limitation
- Support for exFAT USB storage is included
- The LP20 adds a larger desktop-style chassis with rotary controls
The LP20 also expands digital audio output options, adding coaxial output alongside optical output, both supporting up to 24-bit/192kHz playback.
In comparison, the LP10 remains the more compact and minimalist option, featuring a small OLED display, touch controls, optical output, and a 3.5mm analogue connection designed primarily for adding wireless streaming capabilities to existing powered speakers or amplifiers.
The Arylic LP20 Music Streamer is available to preorder directly from Arylic, priced at US$236, but with 15% off using the code LP20 at checkout, bringing the price to just under US$201.
