SwitchBot Launches E-Ink Weather Station, Calendar, w/ Limited Matter Integration

SwitchBot has announced the Weather Station, a new smart home display that combines weather information, environmental monitoring, calendar integration, scene control, and reminders in a single device.

The Weather Station uses 2.4GHz WiFi to connect to your network, and with a 7.5″ E-Ink display, the Weather Station is designed to provide key household information at a glance, while offering up to one year of battery life between charges. Although not mentioned in the company’s announcement, the device can also be exposed to Apple Home and other Matter platforms when paired with a Matter-enabled SwitchBot Hub, allowing its programmable buttons to be used for scenes and automations outside of the SwitchBot ecosystem.

WEATHER AND ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING

The Weather Station brings together a range of weather and environmental information in a single display. The screen can show indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity, current weather conditions, air quality data, sunrise and sunset times, as well as a five-day weather forecast. The E-Ink display offers a paper-like viewing experience that remains easy to read throughout the day, while a built-in front light ensures information remains visible in darker environments. The device can be wall mounted or placed on a desk, making it suitable for living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, home offices, or entryways.

The Weather Station includes built-in temperature and humidity sensors and supports up to three compatible SwitchBot environmental sensors that it connects to via Bluetooth. This allows users to monitor conditions in multiple locations around the home, including nurseries, pet areas, garages, balconies, gardens, and greenhouses. Historical environmental data is available in the SwitchBot app, helping users track long-term trends. When paired with a SwitchBot Hub, users can also receive notifications if temperature or humidity levels exceed predefined thresholds.

SMART CALENDAR INTEGRATION

In addition to weather monitoring, the Weather Station can function as a family information hub thanks to support for Google Calendar, Apple iCloud Calendar, and Microsoft Outlook. The display supports one-way synchronisation with up to five separate calendars, allowing users to view upcoming appointments, work schedules, school events, reminders, and household tasks without reaching for a phone. Up to 30 events per person can be displayed each day.

CUSTOMISABLE DISPLAY LAYOUTS

SwitchBot offers six display themes, allowing users to tailor the information shown on the screen according to their needs. Available layouts include Environmental Data, Daily Overview, Calendar, Countdown, Daily Verse, and Custom Text. Users can switch between themes via the SwitchBot app, with the Custom Text mode allowing personalised messages or other user-generated information to be displayed. SwitchBot also notes that Custom Text can work with OpenClaw, enabling users to display externally sourced information such as public transport timetables and other customised content.

SMART HOME CONTROL AND MATTER SUPPORT

The Weather Station includes two programmable scene buttons that can be configured through the SwitchBot app to control devices or activate predefined scenes. Examples include turning lights on or off, opening or closing curtains, controlling humidifiers, or activating Home and Away modes.

For users invested in Matter-compatible ecosystems, the device offers additional functionality. When paired with a Matter-enabled SwitchBot Hub and added to platforms such as Apple Home, the two buttons are exposed as programmable Matter controls. This allows them to trigger automations and scenes directly within Apple Home and other Matter platforms, making the Weather Station a useful physical controller as well as an information display.

BATTERY LIFE AND ALARMS

Power comes from a built-in 5000mAh rechargeable battery, with SwitchBot claiming up to one year of operation on a single charge when the display refreshes every three hours while connected to Wi-Fi. The device can also be powered via USB-C and includes support for up to three alarms with snooze functionality. Users can choose from three volume levels, while a dedicated top button can be used to snooze or dismiss alarms.

The SwitchBot Weather Station is now available from Amazon stores, priced at:
