Eufy Announces Three New Smart Locks with Matter Support

Eufy has announced three new additions to its FamiLock range, with the flagship FamiLock E40 joined by the FamiLock E35 (listed in some regions as the E34) and the more conventional FamiLock E32. While each model targets a different segment of the market, all three support Matter, allowing integration with Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, and other Matter-compatible platforms.

FAMILOCK E40 COMBINES SMART LOCK, CAMERA, AND DOORBELL

The FamiLock E40 is the most feature-rich model of the three, combining a smart lock, video doorbell, and security camera into a single device. Its primary access method is facial recognition, with all facial data stored locally on the device. The system is designed to recognise users under a variety of conditions, including when wearing glasses or hats.

Alongside the lock functionality, the E40 incorporates a 2K camera with a 135-degree head-to-toe field of view designed to capture visitors and package deliveries. Human detection is handled by a 60GHz radar sensor, which eufy claims reduces false alerts caused by pets, moving objects, or environmental factors.

Power is supplied by a 15,000mAh rechargeable battery, supported by an integrated 800mAh backup battery that automatically activates when required. The E40 also integrates with the wider eufy ecosystem and can be paired with HomeBase 3 for access to additional AI-powered features.

Matter support allows the lock to integrate with Apple Home and other smart home platforms. Whilst Matter 1.5 introduced support for cameras and video doorbells, platform support remains limited. At the time of writing, SmartThings is the only major ecosystem to have enabled Matter camera support, so users will still need to rely on the eufy app for access to the camera and doorbell features when using most other smart home platforms.

FAMILOCK E35 INTRODUCES PALM VEIN RECOGNITION

The FamiLock E35, which is marketed as the E34 in some regions, introduces palm vein recognition as its primary unlocking method. According to eufy, the system can recognise registered users in around 0.6 seconds by scanning vein patterns beneath the skin, with all biometric data stored locally on the lock.

The lock uses a dual battery system consisting of a 10,000mAh rechargeable battery, which eufy claims can provide up to eight months of operation, alongside a built-in 750mAh backup battery that automatically takes over when the main battery is depleted or removed for charging.

Built-in Wi-Fi allows remote access without requiring a separate hub or bridge. The lock can also be linked with other eufy devices, including cameras and video doorbells, within the eufy app. For smart home users, the E35 supports Matter, allowing integration with Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, and other compatible platforms.

FAMILOCK E32 OFFERS MATTER OVER THREAD

The FamiLock E32 is the most conventional of the three new locks, offering fingerprint recognition, keypad access, physical key entry, and remote control via the eufy app. One notable feature is support for Matter over Thread, allowing the lock to communicate using the low-power Thread networking protocol when connected to a compatible Thread Border Router. This enables direct integration with Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and other Matter-compatible ecosystems whilst maintaining local smart home connectivity.

The lock also includes built-in Wi-Fi for remote access, removing the need for a separate bridge. Power is supplied by eight AA batteries, with battery status notifications available through the app. A traditional key cylinder remains available as a backup entry method should the batteries become fully depleted. Like the E35, the E32 is designed as a retrofit-style deadbolt intended for straightforward installation on standard North American doors.

HOMEKIT AND MATTER SUPPORT

With all three models supporting Matter, eufy continues to expand its compatibility with the major smart home ecosystems. The E32 will likely appeal to users looking for a more traditional Matter-over-Thread smart lock, whilst the E35 introduces palm vein authentication, and the flagship E40 combines facial recognition, video doorbell, camera, and smart lock functionality into a single device.
