Govee launches Matter Outdoor Colour Wall Floodlight w/ Motion Sensor
Govee has announced the new Outdoor Wall Floodlight (H3351), a smart exterior light that combines bright white illumination, RGBWW colour lighting, motion detection, and Matter compatibility. As with the company’s other Matter-enabled products, the floodlight uses Matter over Wi-Fi rather than Matter over Thread, which is unlikely to come as a surprise given Govee’s existing ecosystem.
The new hardwired floodlight is designed to provide both security lighting and decorative outdoor illumination, with support for up to 3,000 lumens of brightness, adjustable white colour temperatures, and millions of colours for creating different outdoor scenes throughout the year.
BRIGHT WHITE LIGHTING AND RGBWW COLOURS
The Outdoor Wall Floodlight offers up to 3,000 lumens of brightness, making it suitable for illuminating driveways, gardens, patios, and entrances. Alongside its white lighting capabilities, the fixture uses RGBWW LEDs, allowing it to produce 16 million colours as well as adjustable white light ranging from an exceptionally warm 1,000K through to a cool 10,000K.
Users can choose from 84 preset lighting scenes (via the Govee app), covering seasonal themes, holidays, and everyday ambient lighting, without needing to create custom effects.
BUILT-IN MOTION DETECTION
The floodlight incorporates a 120º PIR motion sensor capable of detecting movement up to 14.6 metres (approximately 48ft) away. When motion is detected, the light can automatically activate user-defined lighting scenes, providing both security and convenience. This allows homeowners to configure the light to switch on with bright white illumination for security, or trigger coloured lighting effects depending on their preferences.
The company has not stated whether the built-in PIR motion sensor is exposed to Matter, however. If it isn’t, motion events would only be available within the Govee app, rather than being usable as triggers in Matter-compatible smart home platforms. We’ll update this article if Govee clarifies the sensor’s Matter functionality.
DESIGNED FOR OUTDOOR USE
Rated IP65, the Outdoor Wall Floodlight is designed to withstand year-round outdoor conditions, including rain and snow. The unit is intended for installation onto standard hardwired outdoor electrical boxes using the supplied mounting bracket.
SMART HOME INTEGRATION
Connectivity is provided via 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for setup and control through the Govee app. In addition to Matter support, the floodlight also works with Google Assistant, as well as Siri, for voice control. Owners with other Govee lighting products can also synchronise the floodlight using the company’s DreamView feature, allowing lighting effects to be coordinated across multiple compatible devices.
