SwitchBot Launches Matter-Enabled Battery Circulator Fan 2 Pro
SwitchBot has announced the Battery Circulator Fan 2 Pro, a new smart air circulator that combines cordless operation with Matter over Wi-Fi connectivity.
While battery-powered fans are nothing new, SwitchBot claims this is the first battery-powered air circulator to support Matter over WiFi, allowing it to connect directly to compatible smart home platforms without the need for a dedicated hub.
Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, the fan features a built-in rechargeable battery capable of delivering up to 70 hours of runtime on a single charge, depending on the selected speed. It can also be powered via AC or USB-C, making it suitable for use with a portable power bank during camping trips or power outages.
MATTER OVER WI-FI
The Battery Circulator Fan 2 Pro works with Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Home Assistant, Homey, and other Matter-compatible platforms. Through the SwitchBot app or a connected smart home ecosystem, users can switch the fan on or off, adjust fan speed with 1–100% control, select different operating modes, create schedules, and incorporate it into home automations. Unlike many previous SwitchBot products, no additional SwitchBot hub is required for Matter connectivity.
DESIGNED FOR WHOLE-ROOM AIR CIRCULATION
Rather than acting as a traditional desk fan, the Battery Circulator Fan 2 Pro is designed to move air throughout an entire room. A DC brushless motor produces airflow speeds of up to 6.5m/s, with an air delivery distance of 33.5 metres (110ft) and an airflow volume of 811m³/h. Automatic 90° horizontal and 90° vertical oscillation helps distribute air more evenly around the space.
SwitchBot says the fan can also be used alongside air conditioners, heaters, and humidifiers to improve air circulation throughout the year.
EXTRA FEATURES
The fan includes a removable pre-filter to catch larger dust particles and pet hair before they enter the fan, helping to keep the internal components cleaner. An integrated fragrance compartment also allows essential oils to be added if desired.
Noise levels can drop as low as 21dB in Sleep Mode thanks to SwitchBot’s SilenTech technology, making it suitable for bedrooms or other quiet environments. An upgraded ambient light bar provides soft illumination at night, while the front grille, rear grille, blades, and filter can all be removed for easier cleaning.
PRICING AND AVAILABILITY
This is an interesting addition to SwitchBot’s growing range of smart home products. While Matter support in fans isn’t new, battery-powered models with native Matter compatibility are still rare, and eliminating the need for a separate hub makes integration much simpler for Apple Home users.
The inclusion of USB-C power is also a welcome touch, adding flexibility for outdoor use or emergency situations. Although the essential oil diffuser and ambient lighting won’t appeal to everyone, the combination of long battery life, quiet operation, full-room air circulation, and Matter support makes this one of the more capable smart circulator fans currently available.
