ULTRALOQ Launches Matter over Thread Locks With Aliro, UWB

ULTRALOQ has launched its latest range of Matter over Thread smart locks, including the new Bolt Pro and Latch 5 Pro with Aliro-certified digital key support, alongside the previously announced UWB-equipped Bolt Mission.

The announcement follows ULTRALOQ’s CES 2026 showing, where the company had already revealed several of its next-generation smart locks, including the Bolt Sense, Latch 7 Pro, and UWB-equipped Bolt Mission. The latest announcement therefore focuses on the commercial expansion of the range, with Aliro and digital wallet support taking a more prominent role. The new collection comprises the Bolt Mission, Bolt Pro, and Latch 5 Pro. All three are Matter certified and compatible with Apple Home and other major smart home platforms.

ALIRO AND APPLE WALLET SUPPORT

The most significant addition for Apple users comes with the Bolt Pro and Latch 5 Pro, which ULTRALOQ says are its first Aliro-certified smart locks. Developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance with support from companies including Apple, Google, and Samsung, Aliro is an open standard for digital access credentials. In the case of ULTRALOQ’s new locks, this allows a compatible phone or other device to function as a digital key, with credentials stored in Apple Wallet or Samsung Wallet.

This is separate from Matter support. Matter provides integration with smart home platforms such as Apple Home, while Aliro handles the digital credential used to gain physical access. With the Bolt Pro and Latch 5 Pro, users can therefore add the lock to Apple Home through Matter while also storing a digital key in Apple Wallet for tap-to-unlock access.

BOLT PRO

Priced at US$269.99, the Bolt Pro is a deadbolt-style smart lock offering several methods of entry. In addition to its Aliro-based digital wallet key, the lock offers fingerprint recognition, PIN codes, app control, and a conventional physical key.

Apple Wallet provides tap-to-unlock access without requiring the ULTRALOQ app to be opened first. Fingerprints provide another option for regular users, while PIN codes can be created for family members, guests, cleaners, and other visitors. The Bolt Pro also works with Samsung SmartThings, where lock activity can be used to trigger other smart home devices and automations.

LATCH 5 PRO

The Latch 5 Pro provides similar Matter and Aliro functionality in a lever-style lock rather than a conventional deadbolt. Priced at US$249.99, it is intended for locations such as side entrances, home offices, garage-entry doors, rental properties, and shared spaces. Like the Bolt Pro, the Latch 5 Pro supports digital wallet keys, fingerprint recognition, and PIN access, alongside Matter integration with compatible smart home platforms. It also supports Samsung SmartThings, including individual digital keys stored in Samsung Wallet.

BOLT MISSION RETURNS AS THE UWB OPTION

The US$299.99 Bolt Mission isn’t a new reveal, having previously been shown by ULTRALOQ at CES. The lock uses Ultra Wideband technology to provide hands-free unlocking based on the position and movement of an authorised smartphone. Rather than unlocking simply because an authorised phone is within Bluetooth range, the system combines Bluetooth LE discovery, UWB ranging, radar-based presence detection, and local processing to determine whether the user is actually approaching the door.

This allows the lock to distinguish between somebody approaching from outside and movement taking place inside the home. No additional hub is required for UWB unlocking, with the Xthings Home app running in the background on the user’s phone. ULTRALOQ says the lock’s UWB functionality works with compatible UWB-equipped iPhones and Android smartphones.

The Bolt Mission also supports Matter, with ULTRALOQ specifying Matter over Thread for its smart home connectivity. A compatible Thread Border Router is therefore required for Matter-based remote access through platforms such as Apple Home. Unlike the new Bolt Pro and Latch 5 Pro, however, ULTRALOQ does not list the Bolt Mission as Aliro certified or offer Apple Wallet digital keys. Its main differentiating feature remains automatic UWB-based unlocking.

MATTER, ALIRO, AND UWB

The three locks highlight three technologies that perform quite different roles. Matter provides the connection between the locks and smart home platforms such as Apple Home. Aliro provides the standardised digital credentials used by the Bolt Pro and Latch 5 Pro for wallet-based tap-to-unlock access. UWB, meanwhile, allows the Bolt Mission to determine the position and direction of an authorised smartphone for automatic hands-free entry.

For Apple users, the choice therefore comes down partly to the type of access required. The Bolt Pro and Latch 5 Pro offer Apple Wallet-based tap-to-unlock access alongside Matter, while the Bolt Mission uses UWB to unlock automatically as an authorised user approaches.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

The ULTRALOQ Bolt Mission is priced at US$299.99, with the Bolt Pro at US$269.99 and Latch 5 Pro at US$249.99. ULTRALOQ says the new collection is available through its own online store, with availability through The Home Depot beginning in October. While several of ULTRALOQ’s next-generation locks were already introduced earlier this year, the addition of Aliro-certified models is arguably the more notable development for Apple users, combining Matter-based Apple Home integration with digital house keys stored directly in Apple Wallet.
