Govee’s Holiday Pattern Projector Light Brings Matter Support
Govee has introduced the Holiday Pattern Projector Light, a new outdoor-capable decorative lighting product offering interchangeable projection patterns, RGBW lighting effects, app and voice control, and Matter support.
Carrying the model number H3860, the new projector is designed for more than just the Christmas period, with 16 replaceable projection films covering six different holiday themes as well as patterns intended for everyday decorative use.
DUAL RGBW AND PATTERN PROJECTION
Rather than relying solely on projected images, the Govee Holiday Pattern Projector Light combines two independent lighting elements. An RGBW nebula light provides a coloured background, while the separate pattern projector overlays images on top. With support for up to 16 million colours, the two systems can be combined to produce layered lighting effects rather than a conventional single-pattern projection.
Govee also provides 71 preset scene modes, with colour, brightness, and movement speed adjustable through the company’s app. The supplied collection includes 16 replaceable projection discs, covering six seasonal themes alongside more general decorative designs, allowing the projector to remain in use throughout the year.
UP TO 1,500 SQUARE FEET OF COVERAGE
A built-in focus ring allows the projected image to be manually adjusted according to the installation distance. Govee states that the projector can produce a sharp image at distances ranging from 0 to 32 feet, with a brightness of 55 lumens and a maximum projection area of up to 1,500 square feet. This allows it to be used for smaller areas such as patios and courtyards as well as larger outdoor spaces.
DESIGNED FOR OUTDOOR USE
The main projector carries an IP67 weather-resistance rating, while the accompanying power adapter is rated IP44. Its construction combines polycarbonate and metal, with UV resistance and heat dissipation designed to withstand extended outdoor use.
Govee lists an operating temperature range of -4°F to 104°F (-20°C to 40°C). The projector operates at 24V with a rated power consumption of 24W.
MATTER, ALEXA, AND GOOGLE ASSISTANT
Smart control is provided through the Govee app, allowing users to adjust the projector’s colours, brightness, animation speed, and other lighting options from a smartphone. The supplied specifications also list Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Matter support. This should allow the projector to be incorporated into a wider smart home setup rather than being restricted solely to Govee’s own app.
For Apple Home users, the inclusion of Matter is particularly relevant, as a Matter-certified accessory can potentially be added to Apple Home without requiring dedicated HomeKit certification. However, the information supplied by Govee does not specify which functions are exposed through Matter. Features such as the replaceable projection patterns, 71 scenes, animation controls, and more advanced effects may therefore remain exclusive to the Govee app, with Matter potentially providing access only to more basic lighting controls.
Govee also supports Bluetooth multi-device synchronisation, allowing multiple compatible lights to be coordinated for larger themed displays. The Govee Holiday Pattern Projector Light H3860 combines seasonal projection with RGBW ambient lighting and, unlike traditional holiday projectors, is intended to remain useful throughout the year. With Matter listed among its supported smart home platforms, it also offers an integration route for Apple Home users, although the extent of that Matter functionality has yet to be detailed.
