SwitchBot Adds RGBICWW Light Bars to Matter Lighting Range
SwitchBot has expanded its smart lighting range with the RGBICWW Light Bars, a pair of compact smart lights offering multicolour RGBIC effects, tunable white lighting, native Matter over Wi-Fi, and an API that can be used to display the status of AI agents.
Designed for use around desks, monitors, televisions, shelves, and other areas of the home, the Light Bars feature magnetic mounting and can be positioned vertically or horizontally.
MATTER OVER WI-FI AND APPLE HOME
The RGBICWW Light Bars feature native Matter over Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing them to connect to compatible smart home platforms without requiring a SwitchBot Hub. Supported Matter platforms include Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, Home Assistant, and Homey. For Apple Home users, this provides direct integration with the Home app and Siri, while the SwitchBot app provides access to the company’s additional lighting effects and settings.
12 INDEPENDENT COLOUR ZONES
Each Light Bar contains six independently controllable colour zones, providing a total of 12 zones across the pair. The RGBIC system allows multiple colours to be displayed simultaneously, with support for 16 million colours and layered gradients. SwitchBot also provides 26 preset dynamic effects intended for uses including gaming, films, parties, and seasonal lighting. A built-in microphone adds music-responsive lighting without requiring an external sound sensor. Six music modes are available, with the colours and effects changing in response to ambient audio.
TUNABLE WHITE LIGHTING
In addition to RGB lighting, the Light Bars contain dedicated cool and warm white LEDs, allowing them to function as more conventional task or ambient lighting. Colour temperature can be adjusted between 2200K and 6500K, while brightness is adjustable from 1 to 100%. Combined white-light output from the two bars is rated at up to 800 lumens. This allows the same lights used for decorative effects to provide white illumination for activities such as working and reading.
MAGNETIC MOUNTING
Built-in magnets allow the Light Bars to attach directly to suitable metal surfaces and make them relatively easy to reposition. They can also be placed horizontally or vertically, while adhesive mounting provides additional installation options around monitors, televisions, cabinets, shelves, and bedsides.
AI STATUS LIGHTING
One of the more unusual features is integration with SwitchBot’s API, allowing the Light Bars to be used as visual indicators for AI agents and other software. Developers can assign different colours and animations to particular states. SwitchBot gives examples including a breathing effect while an AI agent is thinking, flowing light while it is working, green when a task has been completed, and red for an urgent notification.
This functionality sits outside the standard Matter lighting controls, but provides another potential use for the individually addressable RGBIC zones beyond conventional decorative lighting.
PRICING AND AVAILABILITY
The SwitchBot RGBICWW Light Bars are available now through SwitchBot and Amazon, priced at US$45.99 (US$36.99 with coupon) in the US, £55.99 (UK£39.99 with coupon) in the UK, and CA$59.99 in Canada. With native Matter over Wi-Fi, no SwitchBot Hub is required for integration with Apple Home, making the Light Bars a relatively straightforward addition for users who want to use them alongside devices from other Matter manufacturers.
