  • Hi Simon,

I purchased one of these units about two months ago. It was the second Mysa product I purchased. The first one is the Mysa thermostat for baseboard heaters. That unit has worked pretty reliably for the last couple of years with the only issue being the touch screen being insensitive to finger presses. That was not really an issue since there is very good control through Homekit and the Mysa app.

I wound up returning the Mysa for AC unit because I could not get it to control my DeLonghi portable air conditioning unit. Setup had several issues that would not allow the setup process complete. Not sure what the issue was but it might have been a software bug. The Mysa unit would not learn the IR signal from the AC Unit remote control. Contacted customer service via a web form and they provided a code to enter directly into the Mysa app that was supposed to be the code for my DeLonghi AC unit. The setup process completed this time and the Mysa unit was added to Homekit with no issue, but there was absolutely no control of the AC unit.

Contacted Mysa customer service again via email which informed me that they very busy and it might be a few weeks before they were able to send me another code. I asked if they would like to call me and they replied that they did not have enough staff to do that. This was commensurate with the customer service web site which provided the ability to make an appointment to talk to technical support, but over a month away.

So I had a very cute little brick sitting on my dresser which appeared to be fully functional in Homekit, the Mysa app, and the control panel, but it did absolutely nothing. I suspect that customer service provided the wrong code to me, or that IR programming for numerous different AC units is vast and complicated and that they did not fully implement the ability to control all AC units. That just a guess.

So I got an RMA authorization with a shipping label and returned the unit. The return process was made very easy by the Mysa team.

A day later the head of customer service emailed me and offered the unit to me with a full refund if I would keep it and try a few new codes. I informed him that I had shipped it back the day before and thanked him for the offer. I would have taken him up on his offer if I still had it.

I hope there are some positive reviews on this unit. It seems well made as far as hardware quality control goes. I was impressed with that.

Customer service could be better. Telling customers they may have to wait weeks for a solution is not really acceptable. It was good to hear from the head of customer service, but that came too late.

Hope they get the bugs out.

    • Hi Bart, thanks for the info. I purchased one about a month ago, and it arrived here maybe 10 days ago, but I’ve not had time to set it up and test it yet, but I’ll be doing a review once I’ve had a chance to put it to work. If I find any issues, I’ll let you know (via email). The issue with customer service doesn’t sound too great though.
