Forthcoming SwitchBot Hub 3 surfaces on CSA Website
SwitchBot has been quite busy over the last twelve months, with a ton of announced products at CES in 2025, and if a device that surfaced on the CSA website today is any indication, they’re not slowing down.
The SwitchBot Hub 3 has yet to be officially unveiled, but this device has already made its debut on the CSA’s own website. The CSA (Connectivity Standards Alliance) is the organisation responsible for the Matter standard, and with SwitchBot’s own devices supporting Matter one way or another, this has shown up there for obvious reasons.
As the name suggests, this is the third iteration of the company’s Matter enabled hub, that exposes SwitchBot’s own child devices (most of which use Bluetooth) to Matter platforms. However, this device is a slight departure from the second version in that it comes with physical controls.
The most obvious of these is the dial on the front, which also appears to be home to a smart button as well. This dial is flanked by further buttons, with a display at the top. Most of these features are detailed in the website listing;
- Central Gateway Control
- Connects with SwitchBot BLE-enabled devices for seamless remote control and bidirectional communication.
- Data Visualisation
- Accurately displays real-time indoor temperature/humidity metrics and integrates third-party weather forecasts.
- Provides real-time status updates for door locks to ensure constant awareness of security and reminders.
- Intelligent Knob Controls
- Air Conditioner Control: Precision ±1°C temperature adjustment with dedicated knobs.
- Media Volume Control: Compatibility with Apple TV, Spotify, and other streaming platforms for unified audio management.
- Scene Hub Integration
- Editable quick-scene buttons on the homepage for one-touch activation of customized modes (e.g., “Home Theater,” “Sleep Mode”).
- Motion-Activated Screen
- Instantly wakes up the interactive interface upon detecting effective motion (e.g., hand gestures or device movements).
- Voice Assistant Compatibility
- Integrates with Alexa and Google Assistant for hands-free voice command control.
So it would seem this carries on in much the same direction as previous hubs, whilst adding extra features that focus on media control via the dial and the buttons surrounding it. If anything, besides being a hub, it’s an almost certainty that the AC function will expose the hub as an AC controller, as is already the case with the SwitchBot Hub 2. Not much more is known about the Hub 3 at this time, given that whilst it’s publicly listed by the CSA, SwitchBot has yet to make any public announcements regarding it, so we’ll have to wait and see when it’s likely to be released.
