Ecovacs Unveils its Latest Matter Vac, the X9 Pro Omni
Ecovacs has unveiled its latest flagship robotic vacuum and mop, the Deebot X9 Pro Omni, just months after launching its X8 Pro Omni (review coming soon). The new model boast much the same specs it would seem, combining powerful suction, advanced mopping, and a host of automation features in one slim and capable unit.
The good news is that just like many new robot vacs bow, the X9 is Matter compatible via an update from within the Ecovacs app.
POWERFUL CLEANING WITH BLAST™ SUCTION
At the heart of the X9 Pro’s vacuuming capability is BLAST™ Suction Technology, delivering up to 16,600Pa of suction power – slightly down on the X8’s 18,000Pa. Ecovacs has paired this with an upgraded air tunnel system pushing 16.3 litres of airflow per second, making it more effective at lifting dust, pet hair, and debris from carpets and hard floors, despite being lower in suction strength.
OZMO™ ROLLER MOPPING WITH SELF-CLEANING
On the mopping side, Ecovacs continues to move away from the familiar spinning pad design, sticking with its OZMO™ Roller Mopping System, also seen in the X8. This setup applies significantly greater pressure – up to 16 times more than standard mop pads – while the roller spins at 220 RPM to provide deep scrubbing power. The system also washes itself in real-time using temperature-controlled water and then dries with 63°C heated air (145ºF), minimising bacteria build-up and lingering odours.
AI-POWERED SMART CLEANING
The AI Stain Detection 2.0 system uses onboard intelligence to analyse floor conditions in real time. It adapts the cleaning routine depending on the type and severity of stains. Lighter marks trigger multiple mopping passes, while heavier spills prompt a targeted deep clean – including a grid-pattern mop path and mid-clean mop washing.
Complementing this is the Triple-Lift System, which intelligently raises or lowers the mop, main brush, or side brush depending on the surface it’s cleaning. This avoids dragging a wet mop across carpets or hard floors that don’t need it. This is one clear upgrade on the X8, which wouldn’t raise either the main or side brushes, which in turn means those brushes tend to get sullied with liquid messes.
NO MORE HAIR TANGLES
Anyone with pets (or those with long hair…) will appreciate ZeroTangle™ 3.0, a redesigned brush and side-brush mechanism that actively reduces hair wrapping and clogging. The main brush features a cyclone-inspired design, while the curved side brushes push debris inward rather than flinging it to the edges.
FULLY AUTONOMOUS OMNI STATION
As with previous high-end models, the OMNI Station offers fully hands-free maintenance:
- Auto-Emptying: Dirt and dust are suctioned into a sealed bin
- Hot-Water Mop Washing: Cleans the mop with water heated to 40~75°C | 104~167ºF
- Hot-Air Drying: Dries the mop using warm air to avoid mildew or smells
- Auto-Chemical Dispensing: Mixes cleaning solution at a 1:200 ratio for optimal results
This station handles virtually every aspect of upkeep without user involvement, setting the X9 Pro firmly in the ‘set and forget’ category.
SLIM DESIGN & ADVANCED NAVIGATION
Despite all this tech, the X9 is just 98mm tall (the same as the X8), making it one of the slimmest vacuums in its class. Navigation is handled by a combination of dToF LiDAR, RGBD visual sensors, and TruEdge™ 3D object detection – all of which enabling accurate home mapping and careful manoeuvring around furniture, cables, and other everyday obstacles.
NEW VOICE ASSISTANT ONBOARD
The X9 Pro OMNI also debuts an upgraded YIKO-GPT voice assistant. You can now issue natural-language commands, ask status questions, or request specific cleaning tasks – all without lifting your phone.
MATTER COMPATIBILITY
As with The X8 Pro Omni, the X9 is also Matter compatible, thus allowing you to add it to Apple Home. Even though Apple Home now supports robot vacuums what functionality you get is largely dependent on what the company in question decides to expose via Matter. Both my Deebot X8 Pro Omni and Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra are exposed to Apple Home, but the features slightly differ in small ways.
