Smart Lock Maker Tedee win IF Design Award
Polish smart lock manufacturer Tedee, who are incidentally in the process of adding HomeKit to their new smart lock, simply known as Tedee Lock, have managed to snag themselves a 2021 iF Design Award for the aforementioned lock, a great achievement for a fledgeling company’s first product. The company’s smart lock won in the Product Design in the Building Technology category.
The Tedee lock, which is already available to purchase – but without HomeKit integration at this time – is designed for euro-cylinder type locks and compared to the likes of the Nuki Lock, and the recently released Yale Linus is one of the smallest European smart locks so far, which resembles a standard doorknob, to a large degree.
As it’s a retrofit style smart lock, the company claims fitting takes less than 30 minutes to fit the lock and get it up and running.
If you’re not aware of the iF organisation (no pun intended), it’s one of the world’s oldest independent design organizations, based in Hannover, at the iF International Forum Design GmbH, which is responsible for organising the iF DESIGN AWARD. The Tedee smart lock took a shine to the 98-member jury, made up of independent experts from all over the World. The win is a significant one, considering it was up against almost 10,000 entries from 52 countries.
the Tedee should be gaining official HomeKit support sometime later this year, following a round of beta testing, which is currently in progress.
