New Meross Floor Lamp Now Available
As first reported by Christopher Close at iMore, Meross has added yet another smart lighting product to its ever-growing lineup, with the latest being an LED floor lamp simply called – wait for it – the Meross Smart LED Floor Lamp. As with most Meross products these days, the lamp is HomeKit compatible, as well as being able to work with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, IFTTT, and Samsung SmartThings. The New is now available on Amazon.com for US$79.99, although they’re currently offering a massive $25.00 off when you use the coupon within the listing, bringing the price down to just US$55.
The new lamp has something you don’t tend to see often at all, in that it can be set up in one of three different ways – as a standard floor lamp, as a desk lamp with the weighted base, or as a desk lamp with a clamping mechanism, that removes the need for the base, if your desk space is at a premium. The LEDs are only capable of warm to cool whites (2700 to 6000K), but no colour option in this instance. the lamp is capable of a maximum of 650lm, which isn’t terribly bright for a bulb but should be fine for a lamp used for reading etc. The height of the lamp when used as a floor lamp, is 139cm / 54.7in, whereas if it’s set up for a desk, the size ranges from 56-59cm / 22 – 22.2in. The top portion of the lamp is flexible, meaning you can angle the light source to your preferred angle.
The lamp also comes with a physical controller attached to the top 3rd of the lamp’s stem, which allows you to control basic functions like power, brightness and colour temperature.
As with virtually all of Meross’ output to date, the lamp uses 2.4GHz WiFi, which seems to be a protocol rapidly falling out of favour with the advent of Thread, so it will be interesting to see if this is a product that people hold off from buying on this basis. Still, it’s cheaper and more readily available than the Yeelight Star Floor lamp we recently reviewed (check out the video below, or written review HERE), although the Yeelight does offer colour and more lumens.
