Matter Developer Preview Adds Further Compatible Devices
Whilst recent news of the latest delay to the release of Matter may be frustrating to many, it still comes as no surprise that ongoing developments are still taking place, with a new Matter Developer Profile being released for iPhone/iPad and Apple TV. Prior to this latest Profile, the previous iteration, which Expired on January 1st of this year, contained compatibility for the following device types;
- Light bulb
- Outlet
- Switch
- Door Lock
- Temperature sensor
The latest Profile has increased this list, with more sensors;
- Light bulb
- Outlet
- Switch
- Door Lock
- Temperature sensor
- Occupancy sensor
- Contact sensor
- Motion sensor
Whilst it may not seem like much of an increase to the number of devices when compared to HomeKit (let alone Google or Amazon), it shows that Matter is certainly not in any way stuck in some kind of virtual loop.
This latest Developer Profile is due to expire on June 30th, which is just a few weeks after the WWDC 2022, if the date of June 7th is correct.

The Matter developers omit a light sensor (LUX) for automatic control depending on the daylight of individual lighting solutions or dimming in support, similar to adaptively adjusting the light temperature, why? I’m sure it’s not just me who would like a LUX sensor for HomeKit.
Hi, Aqara make a standalone light sensor, and Philips Hue also make one that is built into their motion sensor, both of which are supported in HomeKit.
