Arylic Announces new FM Power Amp w/ AirPlay

Audio specialist Arylic has announced a forthcoming amplifier that also has a built-in FM radio and AirPlay 1 functionality. The A100 Power Amplifier with FM follows on from the company’s many other audio products, that focus on multi-room audio functionality and streaming capabilities.

First things first; this does not support AirPlay 2 only AirPlay 1, which is a bit baffling for many Apple Home users, although may be less of an issue for audiophiles who may have a single dedicated space for listening.

What it does offer is 100 watts of sound per channel, and a stereo amplifier to power passive speakers. It uses WiFi (2.4GHz only) to connect to streaming services, as well as utilise AirPlay, and also offers Bluetooth streaming for those devices that don’t have AirPlay functionality. It even supports KTV (Karaoke, presumably) if that floats your boat.

The Digital to Analogue converter used is the ESS Sabre 9023P, and it comes with a built-in power supply, so you only need a C13/14 type power supply (AKA ‘Kettle Lead’) to power it, leaving no power brick in sight.

The front of the A100 features a small display for showing the incoming audio source, as well as two jack inputs for the aforementioned Karaoke feature. There’s also a USB-A port for accessing audio files from an external HHD or computer. The majority of the front section is taken up with a touch-sensitive keypad for preset stations, pause/play and skip controls, with a large central volume and mode dial.

As with many Arylic products, they don’t skimp on connection options, with stereo Line in and Line Out, Phono in, inputs for coaxial and optical cables, a LAN port if you prefer not to use WiFi, and a second USB-A port. This all in additional to connectors for your speakers.

When it comes to streaming services, Arylic pretty much covers all bases apart from Apple Music, which also includes world radio, but as the A100 contains an FM Radio receiver, you can listen to FM stations local to you too.

The A100 is available now for pre-order, with a standard retail price of US$239, but with pre-ordering you get 20% off the price, bringing it down to US$191.20. Shipping begins on March 5th.
