Aqara’s G5 Pro Outdoor Cam Launches Internationally

Smart home behemoth Aqara, has today announced the worldwide availability of its first outdoor smart camera. The Camera Hub G5 Pro offers amongst other things,  high-quality imaging, AI-powered security features, and seamless integration with Apple Home and other smart home systems, but there’s a lot more besides.

Available in two finishes and two formats, the G5 Pro records in 2.6K Quad HD with True Colour Night Vision, providing clear images, even in low-light conditions. Its built-in AI detects key events around the home – inside and out – alerting users to potential security risks, such as unauthorised individuals or package theft. The camera can also trigger automated responses to deter intruders. Additionally, it supports all major smart home platforms –  Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, Home Assistant – and the RTSP protocol, allowing easy integration with existing security systems.

More than just a security camera, the G5 Pro acts as a multi-protocol hub for outdoor spaces, enhancing the reach and reliability of smart home networks. As a Matter Controller, Thread Border Router, and Aqara Matter Bridge/Zigbee hub, it connects and manages both Aqara accessories and third-party Matter devices, making it versatile for those building their own smart home setups.

• Durable, Weather-Resistant Design – With an IP65-rated casing, the G5 Pro is resistant to dust and moisture and can operate in temperatures ranging from -30 ~ 50°C / -22 ~ 122ºF, making it suitable for use in various outdoor conditions.
• High-Quality Imaging – The G5 Pro features a 4MP (1520p) resolution and a 133° field of view. Its f/1.0 aperture captures more light than standard f/2.0 lenses, while a graphene-cooled 1/1.8″ sensor improves low-light performance. • Local AI Detection for Security and Automation – Equipped with a built-in neural processing unit (NPU), the G5 Pro can identify faces, vehicles, people, packages, animals, and even lens obstructions. • Smart Home Integration – The G5 Pro is compatible with Apple Home and is among the few HomeKit Secure Video cameras to support both Power over Ethernet (PoE) and True Colour Night Vision. It also works with smart displays that support Alexa, Google Home, or SmartThings. RTSP support allows for streaming to third-party platforms, including Home Assistant, over a local network.
• Enhanced Privacy Protection – End-to-end encryption ensures that live and recorded footage is only accessible to authorised users. The camera’s eMMC storage can synchronise with cloud services such as Aqara Cloud and iCloud, while also supporting local NAS backups.
