Roborock Issues Update For Matter Support in iOS 18.4
Roborock, one of the largest manufacturers of home robotics, has released a firmware update to improve support for the Matter protocol across several of its high-end robot vacuum models.
The Matter protocol, developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), is a universal smart home standard designed to enable seamless integration between devices from different brands and platforms.
Matter-Compatible Roborock Devices & Firmware Update Details
The following Roborock models will receive a firmware update between 1–10 April 2025 (US time). This update will significantly expand Matter protocol support, improving device integration and user experience. The exact timing will vary by time zone, so users should expect the update to arrive within this period. The models receiving Matter functionality in early April are:
Device Model | Matter FW Version |
---|---|
Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra | 02.37.88 |
Roborock Saros Z70 | 02.40.92 |
Roborock Saros 10 | 02.32.44 |
Roborock Saros 10R | 02.32.44 |
Roborock Qrevo Curv | 02.26.02 |
Roborock Qrevo Edge | 02.26.02 |
Roborock Qrevo Master | 02.27.40 |
As of writing this article, some S8 MaxV Ultra users have the latest firmware update but are reporting that no option to generate a Matter code or otherwise add the vacuum to any Matter platform seems to exists, although we’ve managed to get this elusive option and since been able to add it to Apple Home (see screenshots below). Hopefully this will be resolved via a forthcoming app update.
Owners of Matter-compatible Roborock devices, including the latest Saros series, will benefit from improved connectivity with platforms such as Apple Home, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa, making smart home integration more seamless and responsive.
From today, users can control compatible Roborock robot vacuums via the Home app on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, HomePod, or Mac, provided they are running the latest firmware.
Note that Matter-related features may vary depending on both the Roborock device and the smart home platform in use. Roborock will continue to update its Matter-supporting firmware to enhance compatibility across major platforms.
Roborock remains committed to expanding Matter support across its product range. In the coming weeks and months, the company will extend compatibility to the Roborock S8 Max Ultra and Qrevo Slim, with further models to follow.
For users of the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, which is certified to work with Apple Home, the vacuum can be integrated into the Home app and be included in custom automations – for example, scheduling a daily living room clean at 2 p.m. Users can also control it hands-free by asking Siri to “clean the kitchen.” The S8 MaxV Ultra is available on Amazon.com now.
Hi,
Any idea if they’ll bring Matter to other models like S7 MaxV Ultra? Was planning to get this as it’s on a good deal on Amazon.
I’m not sure to be honest. It would seem that only devices from series 8 onwards, along with Qrevo and other models will get it.
Just wanted to mention Tapo vacuums have Matter support and are working properly in 18.4. This is not well advertised by them so I figured I’d share with you in case you want to include it in the article. I can provide more info if needed. Thanks!
Thanks, someone on Facebook also mentioned that Tapo is also offering Matter support. I’ll look into it, but please let me know more anyway.
Posted this comment to the wrong article. Meant to put it with the article announcing Matter vacuum support in 18.4. Oops!
