Villa Neri Pathway Lights
Villa Neri is a company that is focused on bringing the beauty and craftsmanship of high-end lights down to the mid-market. The first product they have delivered on that vision is the Villa Neri Pathway lights which are compatible with Apple Homekit, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa which is great because no matter what smart home systems you’re living in – you deserve to have beautiful, well-made path lights to help you enjoy your yard.
First, the part that’s going to be the hardest for some people to swallow. The Price. These lights are reassuringly expensive and anyone who’s trying to build a smart home on a budget will definitely have some issues with the price tag on these lights. But for those who are looking for a permanent lighting solution for their landscape that they want to last for a long period of time… these might be a great fit.
As I’m focusing on Homekit, there really isn’t a lot of competition in this space, the only other light being the Philips Hue Calla pathway lights which are roughly a 1/3 of the price of the Villa Neri’s when averaged out.
Are the Villa Neris worth the price difference? Well, that depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for coloured lights and live in a temperate climate, the Hue is probably going to make you happy. But if you live in a place where there are more extreme temperatures, the Villa Neri has a much better environmental standard which is able to survive all the way down to -30ºC.
The other major thing to consider when there’s a lack of power outside is the scale difference between the two solutions. The Hue Calla’s top out at 5 lights on a single power socket. The Villa Neri on the other hand tops out at 40 lights on a single power-chain and up to 63 lights on a single bridge. Needless to say – Villa Neri scale definitely wins here.
If you’re able to get past the initial sticker shock, then I think the Villa Neri Path lights are a great option for adding long-term beautiful lights to your yard that will survive the test of time.
