Nanoleaf Add New Floor Lamp, Updated TV Strip to Lineup

Canada-based lighting specialists Nanoleaf has unveiled two new lighting products to add to its expanding range, a brand new floor lamp, and an updated version of its 4D TV light strip.

The new floor lamp follows in the footsteps of products by many other manufacturers, including Govee and Philips Hue, with what basically amounts to a multicolour LED strip encased in a tall, thin, upright metal housing and base. The strip itself is capable of both the standard 16 million colours (has anyone actually counted…?) but is also capable of multiple colours in the one strip, which differentiates itself from the company’s basic Essentials light strip.

In additional to the multiple colours available, the floor lamp can also generate warm and cool whites, although whether it’s compatible with Apple’s Adaptive Lighting feature, it’s not certain. However, it uses Matter over WiFi, so no Thread, unfortunately. This isn’t exactly a surprise, given Nanoleaf’s noted reticence on utilising Thread in its most recent smart home releases.

The Multicolour Floor Lamp, which will also work with Nanoleaf’s recently released Sense+ wireless controller, will be available sometime in the Q1 of 2025, priced at US$99.99.

Aside from the floor strip, Nanoleaf has announced an update to their 4D Screen Mirroring Lightstrip kit, with a new V2 model. As with the original model, the complete kit comes with a light strip capable of producing multiple colours along its length, and a camera to pick up the colours on your screen in real time and transit that info back to the strip, via a separate box/power supply.

What’s changed from the original model, which I’m still using incidentally (review HERE)? Well perhaps the most important upgrade relates to the strip itself, which Nanoleaf claim is lighter and more flexible. This means the corner brackets supplied with the original are no longer required. The mount for the camera has anew and improved mount/grip that also has a longer arm, which enables it to scan larger and wider screens than before. The TV strip can also sync to other Nanoleaf lights too, although the company promised this with the original 4D Strip, which still hasn’t come to pass.

the original model was compatible with Apple Home (using WiFi), so whether the new model goes the same way or offers Matter, is unclear at this time. What’s almost for sure is that it probably won’t use Thread.

The 4D V2 is due for release in the second quarter of 2025, with pricing announced nearer to the time.
