Ecovacs’ Forthcoming Robot vacuums Aim For Matter V1.4
Ecovacs, one of the largest robot vacuum manufacturers on the market, has announced four forthcoming robot vacuums, the Deebot X8 Omni, Deebot X8 Pro Omni, Deebot T50 Omni, and Deebot T50 Pro Omni.
All four models are reported to be prepped for release in the first quarter of 2025, with Matter 1.4 certification in tow. Both X8 models are said to offer 13,000Pa of suction, although the Pro version has a few extra features relating to mopping, video, and AI intelligence, as well as a larger battery – 6,400mAh in the Pro, and 5,200mAh in the standard model.
The Deebot T50, in both the Pro and standard models differ slightly in the suction department, with 15,000Pa and 12,800Pa respectively. Once again, the pro version offers a few extras in some functions, and both with the same respective battery capacities as the X8 models. Where the T50 differs from the X8 is the option for the former to come with a base station that can connect to your water mains supply, thereby allowing it to take in or empty out clean/dirty water, without the need for the user to empty water tanks themselves.
You might remember hearing about Ecovacs not so long ago, when it was reported that some of their models were successfully hacked. This led to incidents of the hackers taking control of certain vacuum models, as well as gaining the ability to shout at times obscene and racially charged comments through the vacuum’s built-in speaker. Luckily, it appears the company has both acknowledged and fixed this exploit, so it’s unlikely to happen with other models, including these forthcoming ranges.
The X8 and T50 collection of robot vacuums should be seeing a release towards the end of Q1, 2025.
