New WiFi 7 Routers from eero, W/ Matter and Thread

Amazon has announced an expansion of its eero Wi-Fi 7 range with the introduction of the eero 7 and eero Pro 7. The eero 7 offers multi-gigabit speeds at a lower price point, while the eero Pro 7 is designed for high-performance networks requiring greater bandwidth. These devices incorporate eero’s TrueMesh, TrueRoam, and TrueChannel networking technologies alongside Wi-Fi 7 capabilities to enhance overall Wi-Fi performance, reliability, and latency, even in complex network environments.

What’s relevant to many viewer at HomeKit News is that this new range also offers Matter (as a Matter Controller) and Thread support, via a built-in Thread Border Router.

eero 7 is a dual-band router supporting 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, offering wireless speeds of up to 1.8 Gbps and wired speeds of up to 2.3 Gbps via its two 2.5 GbE ports. It is designed for everyday internet use, such as streaming, studying, and remote working, in a compact form factor suitable for bookshelves, entertainment centres, or desks.

A single unit covers up to 2,000 square feet, a two-pack covers up to 4,000 square feet, and a three-pack extends coverage to 6,000 square feet. Multiple eero devices can be linked for broader coverage.

eero Pro 7 is intended for users requiring higher bandwidth, such as households with multiple people streaming, gaming, or working from home. It is a tri-band system supporting 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz, providing greater capacity and minimising network congestion. It delivers wireless speeds of up to 3.9 Gbps and wired speeds of up to 4.7 Gbps through its two 5 GbE ports, making it suitable for multi-gigabit internet connections.

It features a fanless design similar to the eero Max 7, ensuring quiet operation and reduced dust accumulation. A single unit covers up to 2,000 square feet and supports 200 devices, while a two-pack extends coverage to 4,000 square feet and over 400 devices, and a three-pack up to 6,000 square feet and over 600 devices.
