Aqara Partners with A-OK to Launch Matter-Compatible Shades
Aqara has today announced a new partnership with A-OK, a manufacturer specialising in motorised window coverings, to introduce a range of Matter-certified smart shading products for both indoor and outdoor use. The collaboration combines Aqara’s experience in smart home connectivity with A-OK’s expertise in automated shading systems.
The upcoming product range, which will be on display at the R+T Asia trade show in Shanghai from 26 to 28 May 2025, includes motorised blinds, curtains, roller shutters, pergolas and awnings. These solutions are aimed at both consumer and professional markets.
The integration of Aqara’s multi-protocol module will enable A-OK’s shading systems to support the Matter standard, allowing for broader compatibility across smart home ecosystems including Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Home Assistant, and SmartThings. This ensures users can control the shades via app, voice assistant, or dedicated smart controllers such as wall panels and dials.
The product range that will gain Matter support includes:
- Awnings
- Curtains
- External Venetian Blinds (EVB)
- Interior Blinds
- Pergolas
- Roller Shutters
- Zig Screen Blinds
With Matter compatibility, these products will be suitable for integration into smart home routines and automations. For example, blinds can be set to adjust based on temperature, sunlight levels or room occupancy – supporting energy efficiency and privacy. Users can also incorporate them into scenes such as ‘movie night’ or ‘morning wake-up’ routines.
In addition, Aqara and A-OK are developing a dedicated mobile app to provide enhanced control and configuration options for A-OK customers.
It’s not clear which regions products from this collaboration will be available in, but with Aqara still playing catch up with smart blinds in the US for example, this might be the opportunity for them to create a foothold in this market.

Oh, good news for Aqara-fans and other SmartHome-enthusiasts.
Hopefully they’ll come to Europe (Germany) too.
We need more competition in our market.
“Eve” and some less others are so expensive and are like highwaymen who are aware of their near monopoly In that specific sector of products.
Looking forward to see your presentation and testing-outs on YouTube.
