    Hi, great review.
    I was going to buy the G2 on Aliexpress and then I saw this review. When I asked the seller he said it will appear in the homekit app which based on what is shared in this article proves their claim wrong.
    I would appreciate if you could help me out. If I buy the G2 cam and pair it to my Aqara hub (homekit version), will the live streaming appear in the homekit app like the D-link Omna?

      Hi Michel
      Thanks, glad you liked the review. The AliExpress seller, as you can now see, was not telling you the truth, or he’s going on. What he was told. Either way, it’s not correct.

      As far as pairing goes, this uses WiFi to connect to the network, even though it has a Zigbee hub, so it can’t, and doesn’t need to connect to the Aqara hub, so the answer is no to your second question. I’ve been unofficially told HomeKit support is coming, but as with everything these days, I will believe it when I see it. Regardless of all of this, and the reason why I reviewed it, is because it can work with Siri Shortcuts and also work with other Aqara and Mi Devices that are HomeKit compatible, so it’s half way there in some respects.

      ah – and why G2 does not have H265 codec option to choose (using Xiaomi iOS app)

        Hi, it did originally have the option to choose between H.264 & H.265, but they removed the option. So now it seems as though it automatically chooses between these depending on the type of recording setting.

            Do you have an SD card in the camera? It would seem that 12sec recordings usually only occur with cloud recordings, as I’ve just checked my camera for the most recent recording, and it seems to record continuously as long as motion continues to be detected.

    I 100% have SD CARD in it – as I am able to see its storage and status “OK”.

    But I think I ask question wrongly – so could I have more than 12 seconds video recorded…….. when detected movement.

    I know I can record video as long as SD card be full – but when movement detected?

    I have Xiaomi Yeelight bulbs. If I buy Aqara G2 Hub Camera, can I switch these bulbs within a automation task in Mi Home aapplication if a motion occurs via the G2 camera?

      Yes, you definitely can. I just set up a test automation with the G2 and one of my Yeelight bulbs to make sure.
