Aqara Camera E1 (video)

The Aqara Camera E1 is the first in the company’s lineup to not feature a hub, but it offers 2K recording, pan & tilt, and WiFi 6 compatibility. It’s not all great though, so watch the video to learn more…

NB: There’s an error of my own making in the video where I mistakenly conflate WiFi 6 with WiFi 6E, so Aqara Camera E1 is not able to use 5GHz WiFi, and does still use 2.4GHz WiFi. Apologies for any confusion.

  • Useful review! Aqara dot com’s own specs list “Wireless Protocols: Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/ax 2.4 GHz”, so I don’t think this camera does 5 GHz (and definitely no 6 GHz).

    • Yes, I was mistake unfortunately. I’ve since posted a note on the description stating I’d made a mistake and conflated WiFi 6 and 6E, sorry for any confusion.

  • I don’t see how you can claim wifi6 and not support at least 5ghz these days. The few that do support 5ghz have rock solid cameras out there. If only they could upgrade to 2k or 4k would be nice.
This one is just a clear miss

    • I agree it’s a shame it doesn’t support 5GHz. The Aqara G3 does support 5GHz and has 2K though, so that might still be the best option all round.

  • Where do I need to put the discount code? It does not seem to work at the payment/checkout page on the Amazon Germany site. Thanks.

    • Hi, the discount code was only valid for two days. If you check smartapfel.de they should have a code for use during Black Friday/Cyber monday.
