Deebot’s New X2 Omni Robovac Comes with Matter Support
At CES 2024, Ecovacs introduces a new version of its product, the X2 Omni, which is the company’s first square-profile Deebot. This design allows the X2 Omni to clean almost edge-to-edge. The DEEBOT X2 COMBO extends the capabilities of the X2 Omni by adding a handheld vacuum to the existing X2 Omni robot vacuum, mop, and auto-empty station. It incorporates advanced technologies and hands-free features, aligning with a shift in smart home maintenance. With Matter certification, the DEEBOT X2 COMBO is designed to work with various smart home ecosystems.
Combining the features of the X2 Omni and the convenience of the Ecovacs handheld stick vacuum, the DEEBOT X2 COMBO offers what the company claim to be a comprehensive cleaning experience. Identified as a significant step towards revolutionising complete smart home cleaning, the X2 COMBO is Ecovacs’ first whole-home vacuum system. It aims to simplify home responsibilities for users, eliminating the need for multiple cleaning products and saving both money and space. The X2 COMBO comes in two variations – DEEBOT and Handheld, and DEEBOT and Handheld with stick attachment.
The X2 Omni’s square profile achieves edge-to-edge cleaning precision, covering a claimed 99.8% more ground surface in a single job compared to standard robotic vacuum cleaners on the market. The addition of the lightweight handheld attachment enables the X2 COMBO to facilitate whole house cleaning, including furniture, stairs, and cars. This eliminates the need for users to invest in multiple products for efficient home cleaning.
The X2 COMBO exhibits fairly strong cleaning performance with an 8000Pa suction power employed by both the DEEBOT and stick vacuum attachment. The combination of the X2 Omni’s pressurised OZMO Turbo 2.0 mopping system and industry-high mop lifting capabilities allows the X2 COMBO to effectively clean different floor types without intervention. It retains the innovative navigation and smart home features of the X2 Omni, including embedded navigation, fast mapping, True Detect 3D 2.0 for precision obstacle avoidance, responsive YIKO 2.0 voice control system, and compatibility with Matter 1.2.
Featuring an innovative dual dust collection all-in-one base station, the X2 COMBO simplifies tasks such as charging, emptying, and maintenance for homeowners. The station incorporates bi-directional dust collection for both DEEBOT and handheld components, along with hands-free maintenance. Once the cleaning task is complete, DEEBOT returns to the station, automatically empties, cleans itself, and charges for the next task. Similarly, users can place the handheld vacuum back in the station for hands-free benefits. The X2 COMBO provides a consistently clean home without user intervention.
Has Apple said anything about when robo vacs will be available in the home app?
Not to my knowledge, but when it comes to being Matter-ready, Apple has so far been ahead of the other platforms, so I’m sure when robot vacuum support arrives, it’ll work with Apple Home. I doubt the app will feature mapping, but other things like ‘start’, ‘stop’, ‘pause’, ‘return to dock’ and possibly options to ask Siri to get the vacuum to clean specific rooms is going to be available.
Hopefully, Matter will add mapping support in 1.3 and this vacuum upgrades its firmware to it, otherwise the integration is not very practical.
